So, I received the Jungle Jacket in olive herringbone...and it's frustratingly excellent. Quality is great and the material is both substantial but soft. The shade of green is perfect: not quite olive-y brown but not quite brighter green, typical of Drakes. it scratches everything I wanted in a jacket like this and I expect to wear it a LOT. I did size down, and it was the right move for me. It's extremely roomy at the tagged size, and sometimes with garments like that, as a smaller guy, I end up swimming in an unflattering way. The size down gives me the perfect room for layering what I would actually layer; this is never going over a sportcoat but it might take the place of one sometimes.

That said, there is NO WAY it should be priced at $1000. $500 would be great, $700 would be expensive, $1000 is eyewatering. I'm in a place that when I find something that is exactly what I want, I try and buy more than one. The cost of this makes that impossible for me, which is a shame. But I will keep this one despite the price.

That’s a ringing endorsement (of the garment, not the price). In London in a few weeks, hope I can still pick it up in the store.

Hey guys, I own a size 38 moleskin chore from the fw20 ald drakes collab that is my absolute favorite article of clothing I own. The sizing, feel, and overall look on my body is near perfect. I bought a green canvas chore last year for a great deal in the same size.

While I hoped it would fit similarly, but the canvas jacket is extremely stiff. I understand canvas cotton and moleskin cotton are very different materials, but was hoping for some consistency in sizing. The good news is that it looks great on me, but I struggle to drive properly when wearing the coat and feels restrictive when bringing my arms together.

Am I better on selling the canvas chore and sizing up? Or will this get better over time. Or I guess a third option, lose weight and make it work.

Canvas will soften over time with wear

Anyone know anything about the Oxford cloth used by Drake's? Any clue if it's crafted in Somerset, or is it just the shirts that are made there?

I suspect it may be Thomas Mason, but have no clue.

Any ideas?

Have they ever done a MTO event in Canada?
Nah. Can’t see it happening either. We’re a weird country when it comes to things like trunkshows from reputable tailors, or manufacturers. Probably lots of reasons to surmise that would be best left out of this thread.

The new Oxfords with a pocket (like the 'American' one they did a while ago) are a nice substantial cloth, feel quality.

Also had a look at the new linen games blazer in 'Oyster', the buttons are big bits of mother of pearl and it's a great option for a summer suit.

Speaking of Drake's in Canada...

I recently made my first purchase through their website and was surprised to find that they cannot refund taxes paid on returned items. Rather, they expect the buyer to claim a tax refund through the government (which can take months)

Quite a disappointing experience at this price point. No mention of this on the website so Canadian buyers beware.

Did you pay the tax at checkout, or did the courier service (DHL, I assume) contact you?

Curious to hear more about this. I'm also in Canada and never had to return any items from Drake's yet. It's crazy that you are not getting a refund for taxes you paid up front.

Happy to provide an update once I have a resolution.

Judging from the back and forth this seems to be the first time someone has raised an issue with their refund process for Canadians.
