Oooh that looks nice! I'm looking at potentially getting a Barbour Beaufort jacket but that looks nice! What's the waxed cotton like? And what are the details that you really like?
The waxed cotton is substantial but not too stiff. In general you can tell that the buttons and zips are very smooth and high quality. Those are minor things, but they can make a big difference on how often I reach for a jacket.

Also, the (many) pockets are lined with the same corduroy as the collar. I don't mind the rear pocket, and it's not particularly scratchy, but I can see how you might be concerned.

I also actually prefer the cropped length, I appreciate the fishing inspiration and it helps distinguish it from the more common Barbour.

It's a great jacket! And it really suits you. I love that the pockets are lined like that - that sounds amazing. I bet it feels really substantial as well? That zip on the back though is a dealbreaker. I don't typically wear a jacket when I drive but equally if someone else borrows the jacket or I don't want to have to take it off etc. etc. What a total bummer!

The Barbour is definitely more common but the fit and finish are pretty good. High quality YKK zippers and snaps. I like that the zip is hidden (of course) but also that you can buy blanket liners and hoods that zip/snap in when needed. I'd thought Barbours might be a bit naff/low quality but they're actually really good!

I tried on a shawl collar cardigan and was amazed how fitted it was. I took my usual size in chore jacket (42) and the cardigan was too small. The cut is quite slim...
Do you have the same feedback?

When I went into their shop I think I found the 46 suitable for me. Not sure what that is in the Alpha sizing now and the site seems to be down.

Honestly I'm kind of frustrated they've gone to Alpha sizing. When most clothes I buy are size L it... frustrates my brain? to buy XL or XXL.

I can’t remember if Drake’s does free return shipping from the states but last time I had to return something it was a hassle finding the DHL location in my city.
The return policy is such that you pay 25 dollars if you want a refund. But, if you’ll take a gift card for future purchases, you get the full value back.
