Despite their ever increasing, and now staggeringly high, prices, Drake's still does a lot of stuff really, really well. Their outerwear lineup is unmatched, especially. I see they added their collaboration raincoat with Simon at PS.

Naturally, if you just buy it from PS directly, it's $1200.00 or so vs the $1700.00 at the Drakes US site.

But that navy balmacaan still calls to me every time...
Their outerwear is amazing. The shepherd check tweed chore arrived today and it's gorgeous. The fabric is stunning and the the mandarin collar actually really works beautifully. I didn't like the artist chore in linen or cotton but this one really is something else. I love it. The arms come up slightly longer but otherwise, it fits just like their other chore jackets. It's such a great piece!

@Wim, let me know when you get yours and what you think!

According to the size guide the Shepherd Check jacket is one size bigger than the regular winter chores, do you have other chores and confirm it, is it because the fabric is much more thick ?

I hadn't even checked the size guide, I just assumed that the 38 would fit! You're right - the artist chores appear to come up larger, although the sleeves in the shepherd tweed are even longer than the other artist chore in the corduroy. I don't know why that is, or why they made the choice to make the arms longer on this one. It's a bit weird. In terms of fit, it appears to fit me like their five pocket chores on the chest, arms (other than the length) and even neck. That's likely because of the thickness of the material (as you say) because the wool is quick thick but very light in weight.

I love it! I have that exact chore! Have you tired the new duck chores? I just bought one in tobacco. The fabric is amazing!
As for a photo...erm...I really hate photos of me! Plus, I don't live with anyone so it'd be a somewhat awkward mirror shot! Your photos always look so good! I'll see if I can muster up the courage to take one tomorrow.

Is it common for Drakes to make significant errors with packaging/shipping? I received a jacket in 36 rather than the 46 I ordered, and though they’re covering return shipping have been rather frosty about the whole thing. Disappointing to say the least.

When I ordered the St John butcher's stripes chore I get the french blue one, to do the exchange I had to do a thing online, the link didn't worked, hadn't worker for other customers either, they ended up refunding me and I had to place another order, at a higher price because the pound/euro rate had changed…

I've had an item missing from an archive sale order that was refunded asap. Overall I have to say that my experience with Drake's customer service has been really, really good.

Sorry to hear that. In my experience, customer service is prompt and polite. They usually reply to questions the same day (for reference, I'm on CET). Up til now received what I ordered, and returns have always been handled smoothly.

Just curious, is the raglan overcoat easily shortened? I am short (170cm) and when I tried one on in-store, it was a bit too long.

Structurally, there are no issues like button holes (you can move up the tab on the cuff), so you can safely shorten the coat. Whether they think it is easy depends on your tailor :) Most of the effort will go towards de/re-attaching the sleeve lining at the cuff, moving the sleeve tab and buttons, and redoing the piping and reinforcement at the bottom hem (unless you fold over a bit more fabric and leave the existing piping).
