    tried it today for kicks

IMO proportions are weird, not like the slim fit suit jackets and blazers

That's because it fits a touch slimmer; proportions are definitely not weird. It fits exactly like my EG Bedford.

PS - The UK site has it listed as Herringbone Jacket. The tag on my jacket says Tweed Jacket.

Shoulders are disproportionately wide for the body; an issue the slim tagged jackets do not have

If this is actually true, then EG is now on the shitlist. Jet will be soon be making it official.

^ What size did you try on? Did you try sizing down?

What slim tagged jackets are you referring to? You mean the suits (Tasmanian, etc.)?

I was looking for something like Donegal or Harris, but I'm guessing it's neither.

This is the most confusing thing about this thread. It's a ~$120 Uniqlo jacket. Are you really expecting Donegal or Harris Tweed here?! Or that Fair Isle Cardigan. Sure, it's a wool blend, but it's like 30 bucks.

Uniqlo is quality for cheap, not luxury for cheap, people.

Thanks for posting about this jacket ...not sure if you took note of the Olive color, but if so, any impressions? The Olive looks a little bright on the Uniqlo site, is it more subdued in person? Thanks for any info!

I guess I don't understand what Tweed is then. The wikipedia entry does not go into describing it.

I was under the misconception that tweed needed to be manufactured in certain mills, like how Champagne needs to be made in the Champagne region of France.

What is the defining characteristic of tweed and how do you differentiate it from other woolens?

This applies to Harris Tweed, not tweed in general. Harris has to be handwoven by the islanders on the Isles of Harris, Lewis, Uist and Barra in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland, using local wool.

Topman did a Harris tweed jacket a couple of years ago, although i think the price was slightly higher.
had a look at the uniqlo herringbones, i agree that the fit is off somehow. the cut seemed a bit boxy. nowhere near as nice as the +J versions, sadly

Do the sweatshirts stretch to the point you need to size down? Or will it be fine to go TTS?

I think I saw that one a year or two ago and the price was around $160.
