Actually, that is my favorite also. I took all the close ups with a macro lense which can be a pain in the butt to focus, but it shows nice detail.

I have a black James Smith one-piece brolly, which is my "go-to" and I think represents excellent value for money, esp. considering it's cut to size. Plus, their shop is a nice place, which I think should count for something. I was tempted to buy a cane there, but realised I'd never actually use it!

I also have a navy Versace for less formal outfits and a bent & battered but still just about functional black M&S.

A friend has a Fox's brolly that has broken in less than two years of occasional use, so I cannot recommend them with a clear conscience.

Straight handled umbrellas? I just don't like them.

Convenient that this thread popped up as I just received a Fox Umbrellas GS5 Calma stick umbrella with a dark green cover.

There's a store in Toronto that sells Brigg umbrellas starting at $375cdn for stick umbrellas and going up to around $600 for solid umbrellas. Their selection was limited with only a few handle choices and, of course, black was the only choice of canopy.

I was interested in a green canopy to go with shetland jackets and brown shoes, so placed and order with Fox Umbrellas via their internet store.

Ten business days later my umbrella showed up in ridiculously sturdy packaging. With shipping and duty, the Fox umbrella ended up being about $25 cheaper than the Brigg, but in the handle wood and canopy colour of my choice.

Nice thread. I have three and am having a hard time stopping at that number... DocH, what do you think of the quality of the Peerless? Is it a new one or a vintage? If anyone is interested in a black canopy Brigg, send me a pm. I'm poking around with doing some special orders on umbrellas. I can offer a better price than ClassicLuggage, but Brigg aren't cheap, so don't expect bargain basement prices. Colored canopies are also an option, but would take longer and be more expensive. Okay, I'll stop selling now.

Betty Hemmings Leathergoods in Yorkville. They used to carry Tusting at their old Bloor St location, but seem to have replaced it with a Tumi store-in-store, which is kinda sad. But the Tusting range is available at the other leathergoods store like, 25 metres away.

So far, it's pretty much been an umbrella thread. I used to be quite into canes. As to riding crops, well, I never was much into horseback riding but they were fun to use occasionally on my girlfriends back in my wilder, younger days.

I like walking sticks myself. Apparently one wears a stick rather than using one.
