Hello gentlemen, I noticed there is no actual newbie guide to men's streetwear so I figured I would post asking for one. My issue here is this: I'm really great with picking out actual menswear for formal or semi- occasions because I really do shine in it and everyone tells me so. However, my street closet is empty and there aren't many trustable (imo)guides over Google. So I really need some help with this. This is pretty much my current wardrobe from week-to-week:
  • Blue jeans from a Urban Outfitters(?)
  • Black/very dark grey baggier (not too baggy) jeans from The Buffalo
  • Light blue heavier jeans from Le Chateau
  • Red polo
  • Dark grey polo
  • White long sleeve polo
  • White short-sleeve soccer-y polo
  • Black v-neck
  • Black graphic tee
  • Long-sleeved preppy blue plaid
  • Generic cheap and light Summer shorts
  • Sandy vacationing shirt
and that's excluding some minor accessories and filler clothes, as well as **** that would fit into the formal sections. Now, I don't wanna come off as "that guy that's making a new thread simply just to ask for suggestions" but what are some items that you think are mandatory for any man's everyday wardrobe?

You need to supply more information with a post like this. For example, if you don't want service, you just need pants. But if you do want service, you'll have to spring for some shirts and shoes.

If you want more successful trolling I can point you to www.4chan.org. EDIT: And "so many polos" = 3 short sleeved polos and 1 long sleeved one to you? Please buddy. Polos are extremely versatile in my opinion and the only one that I'd disagree with from my collection would be the long sleeved one, simply because it's long sleeved. It's good to see the other suggestions coming in, though. Keep 'em coming.

I was following you until the second sentence. Do you want me to post up more of my warddrobe? I'm okay with that. For shoes, I got a pair of basic white Adidas sneakers (you know the kind) and a pair of black Pony's.

A variety of basic t-shirts, either v-neck or crew neck or both, in assorted colours with multiple shirts in white/black/heather gray.

A pair or two of slim fitting chinos are always great.

Think basics and a few "out there" pieces that can be mixed/matched.

here are some basic everyday items you might want to start out with, i give some examples from my closet..

some of this stuff might be expensive but here are some of the best that will last you a long time in your wardrobe. Not all brands are made equal season to season, just cuz one season of a brand might be well cut and/or high quality dont mean that the next season or previous seasons also were or are going to be....

At least one pair of all white sneakers (eg: RO, YSL, Lanvin etc.)
a couple pairs of boots that will last a long time (brown, black and or tan) eg: Alden or Red Wings etc.

some belts in tan, brown, and or black (eg: tanner, corter, sugar cane, samurai, red moon, etc.)
a nice wallet that will age (^see above belt brands etc.)
some nice fitting basic shirts (eg: MJK, sugar cane, w+h etc.)
denim (eg: Ande Whall, APC, dior, iron heart, samurai, sugar cane and the list goes on...)

I love that.

And I wanted to get in before the real **** flies and the OP decides to shoot up the place.

Because you didn't see a thread on the first page with the word "guide" doesn't mean they don't exist. 5 minutes of searching yielded these results:

http://www.styleforum.net/showthread.php?t=107280
http://www.styleforum.net/showthread.php?t=180202
http://www.styleforum.net/showthread.php?t=130620

My advice:
Develop your own style instead of having one fed to you.
Don't defend your current wardrobe after admitting you don't know what you're doing in the first place. Do you want suggestions or not?
Lurk more. You'll learn plenty and avoid being ridiculed at the same time.

cuban heels
leopard print underwear
fur coat

But for realz, don't worry about exactly what you wear just worry about how it fits. It's not essential for a 17 year old to have a suit, or for a 35 year old to have patent leather high-tops. Just pay attention to what you want new.

Once you realize your le chateau jeans are ******, maybe you will go buy levi's 511 in rigid if you're slim or 514 if you're average size. You should already realize you have way too many polos, diversify with a button down shirt and pay attention to fit. I have no idea how old you are, what you want to look like, or what your budget is.

But there are NO "what every guy should have in his wardrobe" items. If you're a high school student you probably don't need a decent pair of dress shoes, and if you're a banker you probably don't need sneakers or skinny jeans.
