So This must be one of the worst days in my shoe life. I ordered two MTM pairs of Vass shoes. One from Ascot and the other direct from Vass. I provided the same measurements for both. The one from Vass was slightly tight, but I know it will loosen up with time. (still not as good as I hoped for, because the first few wears were pretty brought)

On the other hand (even though the other ones were tight and the same measurements were used for both) the ones from Ascot are way too big. Not only did it take 3 months for them to deliver them, but I have been trying for a month just to get a response from them. They finally responded and said I can try an insole, but they do not accept returns or exchanges on special orders. What makes this all the worse is the fact that they told me that they would remake the shoes if they did not fit. I think this is crazy. I thought for sure I would get better service then this from a company charging twice as much for the same shoes that Vass sells.

I just sent a message back to Ascot saying I would accept a restocking fee for a return. FYI the shoes are still in new unused condition.

That's just wrong. What is even the point for going through Ascot, their prices are ridiculous. I will be staying away, I bought directly from Vass and had no issues.

sorry to hear that.

I have bought many pairs of Vass via email, after measurements were given, or other shoe size references were, an actual size was given, 40 in my case. Then I placed the order.

As you only mentioned measurements, did you order an actual size?

Ascot should have responded earlier, but mto special orders are not refundable, same rule applies to all shops. Special circumstances may affect the outcome.

was it an unique design from ascot? What’s the reasoning of going to Ascot when they charge double?

The size is supposedly 44 with some modifications. But it feels like a 44.5 wide. It is a classic Black cap toe oxford nothing special. I ordered through Ascot because I was a rookie and did not even know Vass had a website. (In my defense the website was down at the time). I can understand the no refund but Not been a remake like they said they would do? I don't even know why Ascot exists and is still in business. There is nothing they offer that Vass does not do for half the price.

For a cap toe oxford, I can't think of a good reason to go through Ascot. If you want an alligator nubuck hand-sewn split toe derby, you'll need Ascot (and about £5000 + VAT).

Had a similar very bad experience with Ascot and Karl Chu.

I paid for a pair of size 45 shoes (Ascot Price) and they sent me 44 Shoetrees (which they charged me extra for).

I sent a thousand emails and they kept punting me around till I gave up.

I don’t even wear the shoes anymore

I would explore a charge back on your credit card (or through PayPal if that's what you used) if that was the response from the retailer. It's a misrepresentation that induced you into buying those shoes. There's a legal term for that.

Short of the Kaan model I've never understood why people buy from Ascot.

Thank you. I figured all this out about there being no point in buying from Ascot but apparently too late. I will do a Paypal chargeback if they don't respond to my email in which I explain that they promised me a remake.

Ok, I am sorry you had a similar experience but at least I know I am not the only one. We need to put this in the record book though. NEVER NEVER buy from Ascot.

I don't understand the Ascot proposition, since Vass went online themselves. Why they hell would you pay substantially more for the same shoes you can get directly from Vass? And Vass don't also charge you VAT because apparently the UK is now not in the EU; happy days.

uhmm I'm sure that is a mistake on Vass' part and you'll still need to pay the VAT one way or another - either to Vass or the custom's when the shoes eventually gets held up there... I would contact Vass if I were you to avoid needing to pay any extra custom handling fees...

Second pair arrived today, this time from Ascot shoes. F Last whole cuts in black. Very impressed by the fit right out of the box and I gave them about an hour on foot around the house today.
Debating silk laces for formalwear for this pair. Anybody have thoughts?

Question - Have anyone compares Vass and Ascot's Vass in terms of leather quality and finishing/ execution?

Wondering if there's any difference?
I ordered a pair from both. Ascot took way longer and the shoes did not fit. Vass was faster and the shoes fit better. The leather is the same. Ascot may be able to source more exotic leathers, but I am not sure. The only difference is that Ascot shoes have the soles painted as you can see here.

Bottom Line. If you are gonna pay an Ascot price you might as well get St. Crispin.

Hmmm... I don't think so; the Vass shoes sitting in front of me would indicate otherwise. I don't think you have a strong understanding how customs actually work in the EU/UK (BTW the UK is still in the EU Customs regime till the end of the year).
