There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Vass Sarek aka Valway aka Hungarian Edward Green Galway. Uppers made from shell, shaft made from the vegetable tanned leather from the small Swedish tannery Tärnsjö. Thanks to shoegazing blog for sourcing such cool leather. looking forward to seeing it up close

Very nice! Cigar shell upper? What's the shaft material?

I think some more contrast to the welt would have been too much. I like them that way. Congrats Namor.

I was also thinking a shell Sarek with contrast shaft and shell facing would be killer!

My pair, I asked them to leave the Tarnsjo leather unfinished so I could add my own patina, so it's a bit lighter than normal.

Mr. Kuti was a pleasure to work with, and very accommodating! Boots are so soft they feel more like slippers than rugged boots.

thanks gents. hard to question vass' judgment. i think they made an easy wearing boot. the specs i wanted - if done exactly how I specified - would have made the boot slightly challenging to wear. i might throw some dark brown shoe cream on tarnsjo leather. or not

Thanks guys! I agree, I'll let time do its thing and see how they patina :)

They're on F last, with a lower instep. Namor, maybe you can just darken the facings in line with the dark brown shell? I think the facings being the same leather will also make them wear better/more comfortably, so it worked out for the best!

They look great! The shading is very nice and I think you will do some great work to burnish them on your own.

Please note: that Sarek hide from Tärnsjö is really an upholstery leather -- it was never designed, tanned or finished for use in footwear. I cannot say how it will age, but likely not as nicely as shoe leathers.

So I don't own any Vass but have been looking through this tread and have been blown away! Some absolutely amazing footwear. How are people generally ordering? I'm interested in the 1180.

@hoit1981 Personally (and a growing collection of over 20 pairs of Vass) I deal with @Ascotshoes in the UK where the service is impeccable ! In the US I would definitely recommend No Man Walks Alone

I went through No Man Walks Alone for my recent order. Perhaps I could have saved a $50-100 or so going through someone else (I am not certain this is even the case, NMWA's pricing was very low), but having an established retailer (not some random guy on Instagram or whatever) who dealt with all of the shipping, handling, import fees, and, if there had been an error, would have corrected it, was well worth it.
