hmm ok - getting a bit confused with peoples comments and making me doubt myself with the fit and also my next pair. I'm thinking the 40 EUR will be more snug when new and feel comfy when broken in - just like I've experience with C&J, however the 40.5 I have now seem quite ample in the toe and maybe also width wise..
Oh maybe even the F Last isn't for me....(?)

If your heel doesn't slip and they feel comfortable, I see no reason not to keep them.

    Agreed.

Don't panic. Yes, it's not absolutely ideal for the laces to be entirely closed when you first wear the shoes, but on the other hand, it doesn't make the unwearable nor mean that they are a bad fit.

As others have said, you could add a tongue pad if the shoes start to feel a bit loose once they wear in.

If they feel good in all other respects, then I'd think that it's better to use a tongue pad later than to try to sell them now (with the concomitant loss that you will no doubt incur).

If you like how it fits, wear it.

Going to try them out again tonight - there definitely is prob more than ample toe and vamp space (more than I've been used to if compared to my C&J) so perhaps I do need to half size down..
    Arrrrghhhh!

Try them on as you said, may be with an insole. Hopefully it works out for you.

Just curious why did you go up in half in the first place?

The P2 last has a low instep.

Thanks for that. What about the 3636 last? How is that one's instep?

Too much wrongful advise on how the vamp should be completely closed...

Try walking/jumping around WITHOUT laces. If your feet don't slip out of the shoes, you are fine, just use tongue pad.

And if you can take off your shoes with laces tighten, its too big.
