Quote:My original query was over 12 months ago..and I jogged their memory before Xmas..but no news.... Maybe they have re-hired the same person that used to do this stitching.....would be good to see Vass making this to compete with the EG Nevis/Dover & JL Chambard model.

Ilovelobbs, why not just purchase a boot from a shoemaker you've mentioned

Quote:Which picture did you send to Vass for your sample shoe? Because they do make something similar, but it isn't the same (can't explain unless I have a picture of the other pair) Will try to dig out.

Can you see the upper stitching is different compared to the Vass and EG boots.

The sitching I wanted is like the bottom picture from EG and is more complex
but I don't know the terminolgy (maybe Bengal-stripe can help) .....

I do...that is why I included the up close photos for Rezso to look at...what Vass leather do you think is the closest to the EG dark oak?

I have tried this now; completely impossible. Are you sure you are wearing the correct size (is the vamp closing sufficiently around your shoe)?

Quote:Namor, I have a couple pair of the Dover in the 82 and 202 Last. And the JL Chambord too.......... Apart from these, I have not seen any other English or European manufacturers produce these design on a RTW basis....... Nutcracker: Japanese Shoe thread have posted several pairs but their prices are double for RTW........

I've been in contact with Ascot shoes on a potential order of Suede Chelsea Boots on the F last from Vass. I wear a UK 6 and they've recommended that I try a size 40 or 40.5. Does this seem right?

I've read some members here who were UK 6 have gotten a size 39 or 39.5.

I am normaly a "small" 8 UK. Was recommended a 42 in F-last. Turned out too big. Had them replaced with 41, which were on the tight side initially but that fit me well after some usage.

My foot size is UK 5.5 true to size. I have F last 38.5 (normal width) Old English 2 which is still 0.5 size too big. My next order is 38 on narrow width last.
My foot is relatively narrow at ball joint and heel but instep is high. I hope this helps.

UK6 and got an F in 40 and it was too big (instep was high). Haven't gotten an encore shoe yet. Thinking going 39 with the F or 39.5 with the U next time.
