So shell and calfskin fit the same? No difference in size?
Yes and No, atleast I dont see any difference and i have both in same size and last
I've found Vass shell to generally fit a bit looser than calf. Not enough to warrant changing size, but enough to be noticed. A thin Tacco insole can always be used to take up any extra space if need be.
When you say catalogue, you mean their website?
I had a calf (F Last) and a shell pair (P2 last) made in the same size and the shell one was a tad looser. I put this down to the last it was made on.
Yes, they have all of their models on there. Do you have an idea of what you are thinking of or you asking for recommendations on style, last and colour to help inform your decision?
How do you tell between a double sole and a single sole? Or double tapering to a single for that matter? Any pictures to illustrate the aesthetic differences?
First result on Google.
probably a brownish color shoe to pair with a blazer and pants
Does the Vass double monk strap come with those flimsy elastic straps like those used in lowndes or AS? I am trying to decide if I should get a pair of EG Westminster or go for a vass double monk in a U last.
Aside from the gemming issue, which would be a better shoe?
Nope. That said, I wonder what you do if one of those straps rips.
I had a pair of shitty Charles Tyrwhitt double monks that ripped one time. Took it to a cobbler and they restitched it back together
Vass is better constructed AFAIK, ignoring gemming. But get the pair that fits is more important.
Received leather swatches, working on taking a decent picture and labeling them so I'll know in the future
