1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

I think these look pretty good. I'd like to see them on feet, in action to confirm. Who is the maker, if I may ask?

If it's for a practical purpose -- by all means.

I wear Gentleman Travelers by Redwings and also Alden Colour 8 boots in the snow --

Slew's boots look sleeker and I'm guessing that the opening at the top doesn't look that chunky. It might work if you wear beaten denims.

I don't think one needs to confine one's self to the U-last.

not to get defensive but I think my pic is making them look chunkier than what they are. They are sleeker than the Barrie Last and probably in line with the Vass P2. I will be wearing them with non wool pants (and sportcoats ), ocasionally jeans.

here is another pic, I think this tumblr belongs to an SF member:

That looks better than the first picture. I was going to say that your picture is probably skewing things.

I'm revising my opinion to full on "I Like These." Nice addition to your collection.

Post photos in the wild please, even though they aren't Vass.

Actually I've seen those HD boots in person, and they look more like the first picture than that one on the tumblr. No doubts - very good quality, but stylewise... I don't know, imho - far from Vass or other "SF approved" makers. But horses for courses.

Nah. When one's shoe collection reaches a certain point, sheer numbers REQUIRE that one at least try some of the more "out there" styles. For originality's sake if nothing else. Bravo for stepping outside the proverbial "box".

Honestly, I don't. It's just a combinations of things - I don't like padding around the ankle, aesthetically, and if there's a stitched apron everything has to be very clean. But that's my personal thing.

What I have absolutely fallen in love with, is this:

Looks suspiciously similar to Vraivio's wonderfulness here. It is, empirically speaking, an utterly stupid shoe and far less practical than the boot. But i just love it. And that's how it works, isn't it?

Anyway, back to matters Vass, kind of - I have a question: what exactly is the connection between Vass and Dinkelacker? I know Dinkelacker are a German company who make their shoes in Budapest, but they also make an acknowledgement to Vass in their spiel, and there are some little similarities in their web design. It got me wondering: are Vass making, or managing the making somehow, or Dinkelacker's shoes? What's the connection other than geography?

Perhaps Edmorel or Vraivio could answer: where to order Dinkelacker MTO? Direct is best? How was the experience?

But first answer my Vass/Dinkelacker question!

No connection between the two other than making their shoes in Budapest. Probably have shared workers over the years and they manufacture in the same manner. The Budapester you show is a classic shoe, the pic makes it look more impractical than what it is. If you wear any Alden Barrie or Vass 3636 shoe, you can wear that shoe in the same outift. Anyway, back to Vass.

    :paranoia:

keep in mind, that pic is from a japanese site if I am not mistaken and that is a very small size (5-6 UK) so the proprtions are wonky. I think in size 8 and up the proportions look better.

Namor: looks like they are available in the US - but weirdly none of them in any size bigger than 10US at the moment.

Anyway, yes, back to Vass. Thanks Edmorel - maybe they are just polite with the acknowledgements and have the same web builder!
