Luk-cha, both the "Arca" and the whiskey shell ones are amazing.

    cheers!

they are both great. i especially like the natural sole treatment on the first pair. the arca reference might not be too evident for me...

i have to have some cordovans from vass.

btw, these are setting the bar rather high for the paprika. it will work out for you.

yes you do! well we are stage one complete on the pap's request is for suede please, no black derby for moi!

love the look of the OE cordo shoes

you bet the are - better than anything in whisky that have come from Alden IMO[IMG]

part 2 of today's little pictorial, Vass Old English with Medalion in Horween Whiskey Shell Cordovan which i treat quite meanly, as perhaps you can tell from the scrape's and guage's.

    saddle shell cordovan? [IMG]

I never really liked u-caps, but those are, once again, fantastic. Vass does amazing things with shell.

Gabor Halmos showed me some Shell Cordovan Vass shoes over a year ago. They had the most unique smell to them and I've never come across such a pleasant smell on any other companies cordovan shoes.

Do any other Vass Shell Cordovan shoe owners concur?

Give me some saphir and I can make the cordovan smell nice. I suspect that it is more a function of some burnishing with a premium polish that gives it the smell, since the shells come from Horween as well but I could be wrong.

Although Horween claims the same process is used for all their shell, Aldens, AE and Vass all seem to have their own subtle characteristics.
