1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

And how do you acquire them?

Is Kolecho still the SF contact for Vass?

I bought all of my Vass shoes straight from Vass, via email orders. It's hard to imagine anything simpler and more fail-proof than that, as long as you're very clear about what you're ordering, details, etc...

Peter is very narrow. I can't wear it.

New Peter I can squeeze into, although the shoe that I bought ended up being too long to be really comfortable to walk in. (Support was in the wrong place, and instep was low.)

3636 is sort of like a wide Peter. If you look at the Vass website at their Norwegers and English oxfords on the Peter last, the 3636 looks almost identical. Except that I can wear that model.

    Cheers. That was me.

Does anyone know where I can find a listing of the suede color Vass stocks? I want to pick up a few double monks.

Also how does the F last compare to the U in sizing? The U last fit me in length but a shallow toe box caused chafing on the tops of my toes. I'm between a 43.5 and 44 in the Peter.

Finally, what lasts do you all think would look handsome on a suede monk? I think I saw some K lasts a few pages back that looked interesting.

It's Ugolini (Roberto Ugolini from Firenze). The lasts were designed in conjunction with Isetan for the Japanese market so I think it's safe to say that the Japanese are aware of Vass.

    From the Vass website:

"As a result of our cooperation with Roberto Ugolini, a shoe craftsman from Florance, and based on new designer impulses and on demands of our customers, we have created a new, Italian style range of lasts and model collection within our existing classic models and last types. The foundation of the cooperation was provided by an order received from the Iseatan company in Tokyo, which intended to expand its shoe collection with a high-quality product that combines the shoe craftsman tradition – which is gradually fading away all over the world – with a dynamic Italian design. To their honour, we have named our new ‘Japanese’ lasts ‘U – Ugolini’ for square toe shoes, and ‘F – Firenze’ for round toe shoes."
