new to vass shoes. Want to buy a pair and want to know is the quality consistent with vass? Has the quality changed after Vass started its online business? How does it compare with a pair of C&J Handgrade? thanks guys.

Vass’ quality has stayed consistent - but you should be aware that that in itself is a lot less consistent than C&J mainline, let alone Handgrade.

Lovely shoes which age beautifully and take heavy use well (which is also true of C&J) but not the thing if you are looking for consistency pair-to-pair.

Thanks for the info. So in terms of consistency, it is less. What about the quality/leather? Another shoe I am thinking at this price range is antonio meccariello's argentum, but leaning toward Vass because I have already tested Vass shoe size.

What is your vass shoe size and last?
What other brands/sizes of dress shoes do you wear?

I only tried out F last because thats the only last I will buy
C&J 379 UK9
C&J 337 UK8.5-9, 8.5 is slightly touching left feet toe, 9 feels a little too roomy
C&J 363 UK8.5-9
Carmina Rain UK9
Carmina Costitx UK 9.5 (didn't buy but 9 was pinching left feet)
Vass F 42.5-43 (same story as C&J 337, but I would buy 43 in this case)

How long does it take Vass to respond to email? I sent via two accounts and no response for days.

Hi all, new to SF but reading a lot here. Also made a wise choice with Carmina Rain 10.5UK from the SF knowledge. Now I’m looking at Vass, particularly the F last. While I’ve emailed Vass without a response, I tried estimating from the many posts comparing Carmina Rain with Vass F below. My feet are quite wide at 11.5-12cm, 28.5cm length, and I estimated the Brannock to be 10EE (never measured irl). From this, I assume a 44.5 Vass F Oxford fits? Do I have to up it to 45? Thanks!

Brannock/US : Rain : Vass (last)

I wear a UK 10.5, us 11.5 d and vass 44.5 on their F last.
I was advised by vass to go with a 44.5 on their F last. The vass 44.5 fits me very well. Initially it was snug. After a number of wears it loosened up a bit.

Might your feet be considered normal or wide width (perhaps a quick measurement of the width)? Thanks!

I have had problems with shoes being too tight width wise.

My feet are a normal width. I would keep emailing vass to direct feedback from them on sizing. I won't order a pair until I hear from them.

Agreed. Unfortunately they haven’t replied to 3 emails over 2 weeks. Seems like a common encounter. Got to wait patiently then.
