Always a fun day when the Vass fairy arrives!

High Boot in Cognac Scotch Grain on F last

Really great stuff as usual. The Budapest last is extremely comfortable and not really bulky looking at all. Perfect for more casual shoes. This shade of Burgundy came out nicely as it only looks reddish in the sun. Normally it seems more like a dark brown that's been tinted. I was worried the Cognac Scotch Grain was going to be too light, but this is excellent. I may still darken a touch at some point, but no rush. Look forward to breaking them in!

While I like geoffmartin's shoes, I do agree with fritzl about the welt ending at the waist. I am agreeing too much with fritzl lately, need to go see my doctor.

    Somebody stop this man!

Hats off to you David - you've gone where angels fear to tread with the Buda, and hasn't it paid well? .Inspired. and that cognac scotchgrain is whispering sweet nothings. :)
Looks like step 13 for me.

Comparison picture: (left) G&G TG73 squared & chiseled last....(middle) Vass U last....(right) Clifford Roberts squared last

Sorry...no comparison of various Vass lasts together

Notice how the middle Vass U last is narrower in the toe box area...between all 3 lasts...the Vass fits a bit narrower than the others

Thanks for the pic. Appreciate it.

Actually I am more interested in a comparison of the F last with other round Vass lasts. U last is too pointy for me.

I only have 3 of the Vass lasts, but you can find bird's eye pics of the R, Budapest and Banana lasts in the Vass catalogue which u can get from their site I believe. From left to right: F last; P2 (New Peter); U last

pics of the trees in the same order below.

The F and P2 fit very similarly: the idea that the P2 is wider is an optical illusion cos of F's narrower waist and slightly pointier toe. At their widest point they are about the same. The F double sole heel is very slightly smaller. The P2 is not beveled at the waist unless you specify that.
