Newman's menswear in Hamilton is offering 30% added to anyone who buys a gift card from them. They carry a lot of good brands like Ring Jacket, Alden, and Barbour that rarely have such discounts available. The only catch is that they have no online purchasing option so you'll have to wait till the lockdown is over to get anything. https://www.instagram.com/newmansmenswear/?hl=en

Do you know what their ring jacket prices are like?

Typically jackets are 9-1200. I have seen boxing day prices of 600 on jackets but they tend to be size 38 or less or 54+. Suits are usually 1500-2000, usually no sales on the suits. They have a pretty decent selection, including the sought after balloon fabric. I would say the prices are comparable to Cavour, but with this 30% discount, I can't think of a cheaper way to buy Ring Jacket in Canada.

Apparently, SuitSupply's outlet inventory is not accurate. Had ordered a couple of suits back on Easter weekend. (they showed as in stock). We're at April 21st now, and I've finally seen a change in the order, and a response, saying one of the suits is out of stock. So they are just refunding me. :-/ I'm sure you could be out of stock, if it takes over a week for someone to actually look at the order.

Hoping the 2nd suit comes through okay, as it was the preferred one anyway. Still will be a nice deal, if it goes through. Emphasis on "if".

Their website does say 1-2 weeks for sales. I ordered on the tenth and mine still hasn't shipped but haven't gotten any cancellation notice either so maybe just a matter of time. Would be nice to get a full canvas Jort for $320 but not going to be heartbroken if it gets cancelled.

Hey guys,

Harry’s is having a tiered sale where if you spend $1250, you get $400 off (32% off)

It applies to everything, including fragrances. Meaning, you could get up 32% off Creed, Tom Ford, etc...

does anybody want to piggy back on an order so we can hit $1250 and get the full discount?

Fragrances rarely go on sale for that much. And it even beats the US prices by a long shot.
interesting............after tax you'd be saving about 20% - not bad for things which never go on sale.

This is the vendor I have used for anyone interested in Ring Jacket https://global.rakuten.com/en/store/asshop2010/

Sport coats are usually $4-600 range whereas suits are $5-1200 now. It used to be less when the CAD was a bit stronger but even now it's not bad. Expect another $40 or so for shipping. Most likely the least expensive way to get new Ring Jacket and they get their hands on new items for each season.

Such as Canada Goose - which *is* included in this sale. A lot of it has been raked over since it began, but those in a S or XL may still find something.

Thanks for this. A question about sizing, though. I'm typically a 38 off the shelf. This would be a 48 in one of these jackets, correct?

Yes it is European sizing system so add 10 based on North American sizing. Also keep an eye out for the model number as they are different styles and has nuances in terms of how they fit. For example the 184 is the so called 'basic' cut whereas I personally like the lines of the 246 more and find it to be slimmer for the same size.

Which, I can understand if you're factoring in shipping time, etc for that.
But I have one order that's been 8 business days already, without the order even being processed yet, for a off-the-rack suit (this isn't made to measure), that claimed to be in-stock when ordered. That's just bad.

We'll see what happens. Hopefully your order ships soon. :)

Are you charged additional duties as well? I’ve never ordered from Japan so don’t know what those would be like.

I'm in the same boat my order is still in process. Maybe it's the impact of the pandemic or a case of if it's too good to be true it probably is since this is about 70% off the regular price.

Maybe. We shall see.
I'm still hopeful the 2nd order comes through...but, I'm consoling myself with another purchase, using the Harry Rosen sale, on a new Goose coat at discount. :)

I wasn't as the vendor marked it as a gift and the declared value was low. It's sent through the postal system so there is more of a chance you won't get charged duties and taxes but I'd say expect it just in case. For apparel budget about 18% for duty and your provincial sales tax to make a more fair comparison to buying locally. There is the CBSA estimator https://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/travel-voyage/dte-acl/est-cal-eng.html
