Btw if any of you are in the market for a new suit/slacks/jacket, Stagioni is closing up shop. eg Cerutti suits marked down from 1800 to 600.

Probably three season at best depending on the width of the wale. The thinner it is, the better in my opinion. Any pictures? In all honesty though, for 97% off it wouldn't even bother me if the suit can only be worn for one month out of every year, lol. Now I'm tempted to make the trek to the outlet to look for a similar deal.

I have 2 Sport Coats coming from Milwaukee that, on the Fed Ex tracking screen are marked as "Clearance Delay-Import Mississauga" I paid $780 CAD for the jackets so should I expect 31% Duty for ~$230?

^^^ I dunno - the 31% figure I have reference previously represents 18% duty on shoes and 13% HST. Not sure what percentage duties are assessed on sport coats.

Call FedEx and ask what has been assessed - they might be able to give you the breakdown, but more likely just the total owing. You can then clear it with a credit card so they are able to leave the package if you are not present for the delivery.

Well, I do like the Samuelsohn jackets I got from Frieshkies(sp?) on EBay and 2 NWT jackets for $780 is a crazy price compared to Rosen even if there's $250+(?) on duty/brokerage and I have to pay for my own tailoring it's still a very good deal I suppose. That being said, I'm bracing for a punch in the gut when I go to pick up these jackets (I always end up going to pick up as I'm currently in an apartment building).

The jackets are Samuelsohn? Meaning, made in Canada?

If that is the case you should only have to pay HST 13%+ FedEx fee ($30-35)

    Well I like that!!

And yeah, 2 Sammies that I'll be very happy to have. If the pre-tailoring bill works out to ~$900 total for 2 jackets I'll feel pretty good about all this.

Yes, the 18% on clothing and footwear only applies to good MFG'd outside the NAFTA agreement.

    And nice looking coats!

Hopefully the customs officer in "sauga catches that these were made in Canada. Thanks for mentioning that Cal, I feel like I just somehow saved some money. [IMG]

Whoever sold them to you should have wrote it on the customs declaration. That's all they (customs) will look at without opening the packaging... Hopefully all goes well.

Second, I think cord is a cold weather suit. I've got a couple of corded suits, one thin wale/ one wider, and definitely a fall winter style. Could get away with wearing in spring, but not the right feel for me.

But I've also split my wardrobe seasonally, so I've got a clear set-up that way.

Yeah, it was a crazy deal. The outlet really does have gems once in a while.
