Does anyone know somewhere to get wool dress socks in the downtown core? I've heard the Harry Rosen outlet is good, but I don't want to travel all that way just for some socks.

Go to Brooks Brothers and buy 3 pairs to get a 25% discount. If you have their corporate discount card you will also get an additional 15% off, or even up to 30% off during their corporate discount days. I've started stocking up on these over the years and although not Marcoliani quality, they aren't bad.

Just got the belts. The value was stated at US$100 and the customs/tax bill was C$58. :fu:

One of the belts was also shipped in the wrong size. :fu: :fu:

I feel bad for you man. I wonder what the computation was to charge 58% of duties/taxes for your purchase.

The conversion from USD to CAD was 1.33. Then there's HST, a customs fee, HST on the customs fee, the Fedex "ROD Fee", and of course HST on the ROD Fee. So just the five additional charges.

Odds on any/all of the following as part of the exchange process?

    • Return fee
    • Return shipping fee
    • HST on exchanged belt
    • Customs on exchange belt
    • HST on customs on exchange belt
    • Miscellaneous Fedex fee on exchanged belt
    • HST on miscellaneous Fedex fee

I'm pretty sure Meermin won't charge a return fee since the mistake was theirs. Hopefully they cover shipping both ways, too.

Where do you fellows get your shoe trees? I need four pairs at the moment, but I'd rather not pay $30 a pair ..

support our man Jokb, he can hook you up. BUT you get what you pay for, at least that's been my experience with cheaper trees.

Quote:You can find a link to jok's website (GTA Shoe Shine) inside his signature, a few posts up. By the way, how much does the website you linked to charge for shipping ?

Thanks (that's the problem with only browsing this site on my phone. Shipping will be calculated at checkout but I don't recall it ever being expensive.

Jok is the man. Nick's does a nice fitted pair of cedar trees for $30 if youre in the area. $40 at Rosen for comparison.
