but it is not CP who levies the duties.
yes, CBSA I know. Was talking in general
Gotta find a euro proxy. Come to think of it.. I do have family in europe..
But wouldn't you have to pay VAT? Also wouldn't you face the same issues? Someone just posted about being nailed on a pair of used St. Crispin's
Would have to pay VAT. But if they are coming to Canada they can bring up to $800 worth of good into the country, right?
I guess the VAT makes it a wash.
Interesting that you should mention this. I had a watch from Japan sail through last month, and all parcels of bike gear from the UK (about six of them) values up to $200 got through as well.
We may have a rat on SF.
My instagram news feed told me that leatherfoot is having a sale on their current stock before their new stock comes in with new (higher prices) because of the CDN dollar.
Anyone going to check it out?
I feel bad for you Roger. 1 out of 3 i thinks isn't that bad though. I haven't had any recent deliveries through CP, most of my deliveries are fedex so I always get hit.
My girlfriend had a watch from the U.S. delivered through UPS and my was first impression was yikes! She got the watch today and of course she got hit with taxes, duties, and the dreaded brokerage fee.
Last time I was there (a few months ago) they had very, very limited stock of everything except St. Crispin and Lobb.
When I went Watchfinder to meet Sean, I stopped by leather foot and it was my first time meeting John. He didn't really say anything about them having a sale... Other than same one they've had since early this year.
It sounds like it's just their regular every day price but with prices for new incoming stock skyrocketing because of our crappy dollar it can be considered a sale. Not really the kind of sale I like. They make it sound like the price hike will be significant
I realise this post was made in jest, though I should point out that the CBSA absolutely does look in places like this to find out about what loopholes people are using to try to avoid paying taxes.
As such it is a good idea to NOT be shouting from the mountaintop about any kind of loopholes or clever shipping tricks that retailers are using, that might help people avoid paying taxes. Just share them privately with people.
They know too much...SHUT IT DOWN.
it isn't any sale guys, other than what was previoulsy on sale from the winter, but I think more of a shout out to "American" shoppers who can benefit from our weak $, and hence enjoy a 30% discount of what is listed in CND funds.
Been a little disappointed as of late as they hardly had any new stuff come in except for MTO's. Had a credit there from the winter that I had put towards as a deposit for some Carmina tobacco suedes that were supposed to arrive in April. Then May, then June. I followed up and was informed they weren't arriving til Sept sometime, so got my dep back. It's too bad. Hopefully they get some new stock in from the SS15 catalogue.
