who are the best cobblers in the GTA these days? its for repair work (stitch coming undone)

I can recommend a few, but none in GTA.

Corey Hiltz at Fix em up in Barrie.

Pablo Hadarits at Dimar in Guelph.

I have reviews on each of them.

Others are further away and require mailing the shoes to the cobblers.

*Deleted post* (sorry, I thought the previous poster said he was visiting Toronto from Van, but it looks to be the opposite).

Do we nowadays need to pay duties for goods made In uk and shipped from UK?

I got dinged for both duties and taxes for a pair of truckers boots which is made in UK, I called CBSA and they told me that the duties was correctly assessed. I mentioned about CETA but the officer told me that her system shows a duty applied for shoes made in UK.

I am pretty sure I didn’t pay for duties for goods made in UK before, wondering if this is a recent change?

Based on this, you should still be covered under CETA until the end of the year

Thanks, that's my understanding as well, which I mentioned to the office over the phone, but she simply told me in her system, there's a duty rate of xxx % (I forgot the exact number) applying to shoes made in UK

Usual shoe duty pre CETA was 18%.

At this point I would just print out the objection/reassessment form and mail it in.

I know this is a long shot - but I recently moved to Kitchener. Anyone know of any decent tailors in the KW area? Nothing major, just simple alterations?

We are seriously pondering this move (TO-KW) and based on prices and competition for houses, it appears we are not alone. Multiple offers and busy showings for any decent houses in the KW area. It certainly will be a lot more $$$ than when we first started thinking about it 5 years ago!! Of course, our TO home has increased in value over those 5 years, but the variance seems to be getting less and less between TO and KW.

The market was much more competitive than we expected, but we obviously came out well ahead in the move. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about the market or the city.

I ordered a pair of Cheaney monk straps and received them last week. Had to pay HST but DHL didnt charge me any customs fees.

Anyone know of any good tailors in the west end of the GTA?
I am not in a rush but would like some jacket sleeves to be shortened.

Thanks!

V Hazelton referred me to a few of the shops that do a lot of the work for them in the area. I also know of a very very good independent tailor, but he's more in the financial district. Is Yorkville / financial district okay, or does it have to be strictly west end / Mississauga?

I guess it doesn't matter. I'm really looking for someone who can do mail in orders though. I know it's weird but I'm just paranoid these days.
