Is he willing to cut slim? Like TB slim? That's what I'm worried about

This is pretty much the only thing to do in Salem, Ventis recently opened up a taphouse that has about 25 beers on tap and another 100 or so bottled to choose from with taps changing daily, anything else you have to go to Portland for. Still haven't hit up Blackbird since they opened. Have several things I need tailored so I am going to check out the European Tailor since I don't think it is to far from my work.

If you are adamant about wanting him to do it, I think he will. My most recent sportcoat I had tailored, we were talking about it and he said that any slimmer and the vent would fly open. I appreciated that information I wouldn't have known myself, and decided to stop there. But I think he would have suppressed the waist even more if I had asked.

Heading to Portland next weekend. My friend who lives in Tiger or Tigar or whatever recommended some places to eat. Can anybody chime in and tell me if they are worth going to (well, I'm sure they are all worth going to, but are some better than others? I don't think I'll have time to hit them all up)?

    -Pine State Biscuits
    -Le Pigeon
    -Mother's
-HA VL (? Vietnamese, I think)
    -Little Big Burger
    -Broder
    -Beast
    -Bunk

Last time I was there, I had Simpatica, which I absolutely loved. I haven't been to Beast, but the "fancy" dinner of the trip will be at one of the two. What say you?

As far as shopping, let me know if I missed anything: Frances May, Blake, that whole Blackbox building thingy...

Tigard. And I hope you're not staying out there. No offense, but it kinda sucks.

All those spots are solid for sure. Beast is pretty fantastic, but right down the street is an equally impressive spot called D.O.C. Highly recommended for the "fancy" type of dinner. Not fussy, but incredible.

Broder or Pine St for breakfast are awesome. Both are small, and super popular so go early, or be ready to wait. Skip Mother's. Good but the others are way better and the line is out of control.

Bunk for sandwhiches is rad but the space has little charm so go for the food and you'll be fine. Alternately, Bunk Bar has many of the same sandos, but is only open form 3pm on, and is a chill bar to hang at. Good live music (rock) often as well.

Le Pigeon is off the hook. Go. But you'll need a reservation.

    Drinks: Beaker & Flask
Thai food like you've never had (for real, even if you live in NY): Pok Pok
Coffee: Heart and/or Ristretto. Tons of amazing coffee, but don't get too hung up on Stumptown. There's others that are better.

Yea, planning on going to Pok Pok for my 21st in less than a month, excited.

OK, so does anyone have any recommendation for a tailor who will actually cut a suit really slim? I'm scared to pay $100 and have the suit look no different than before. Tried DZ tailors and was less than impressed

What about European Master Tailor? I'm pretty sure he'll do it if you ask.

I love eating in Portland, so great. All the places mentioned are good to great. Mother's is fine but not that exceptional, there are much better brunch places (Screen Door, Broder, Simpatica, Merriwether's). Bunk is pretty good, but I think overrated. An Xuyen sells really good banh mi for $2.50-$3. Little Big Burger is fine, but I think Violetta's burgers are way better.

Little Bird is a potential alternative to Le Pigeon---same family. Toro Bravo is a great tapas place. I still really like Higgins for classic Pacific Northwest new American.

Tastebud makes my favorite pizza anywhere.

Another coffee place to add to your list: Coava. Really cool space, plus a barrista champion.

I posted a scathing review of pokpok on yelp and have been getting hilarious hate mail ever since. People think they own a stake in dudes operation cuz they gave it a 5star yelperoo.

+1 coava, thats my goto spot. Nothing like sippin espresso at a decommissioned drill press. A lack of attitude or pretension is a surprising touch.
I been meaning to hit heart coffee as Wille Yli-Luoma the shredpro owns it.

I wish apizza would deliver, i broke my ankle and havent been able to get my pie fix lately.

Oh and if anyones into sigur ros, they're new film is screening at living room for the next week.

Took my suit into European Master Tailor 2 days ago. Really nice dude, good personality. He was relatively receptive, considering my unusual requests, and the sheer amount of them. Seemed a little uncomfortable about tapering suit pants to a 7" opening, but agreed in the end. We'll see in a week or so how well he listened lol

All in all I paid $125. This was for the jacket being taken in at the waist, all through the arms, the pants taken in at the waist, thigh, knee, calf, hemmed and cuffed. Not bad.
