How much G&G charge now, Christian?
I think Okuyama price is aveage Tokyo bespoke price.
HKD38,000 for boxcalf, IIRC. More or less GBP3,000

yeah, just about right in Japanese standard :)

I think Okuyama, as well as many other Japanese bespoke makers, work alone.....

Here's my latest for a customer from Missouri, Florida, and Camp Sherman, Oregon (where he spends the summer flyfishing for Rainbow and Bull Trout on the Metolius River.

Everything is bespoke right down to the shape of the heel (Cuban or sometimes called a "military" heel)

Some may not like the full quill ostrich but the customer insisted and when they were finished I found them more attractive than I thought they would be.

Clicking on the photo might bring up a closer (larger) look.

Holy hell. Some fine looking boots right there. They certainly look like they set him back a few.

The full quill ostrich itself is about a third the final price.

Wow that must be some expensive material!

The boots are just beautiful - truly beautiful.

I'm sure everything we can't see is just as perfectly done as everything we can see, given the maker.

    Thank you.

That said, nothing is ever perfect. My mentor used to say that with every pair...no matter how long you've been doing this or how well you do it...you should look for and identify three things that you can improve on the next pair. No more than three lest you fall prey to the sin of false pride; and no less than three to forestall arrogance.
