There has been some great pr0n in this thread over the last day or so. Those new G&G's have to be one of my favorites I have ever seen from them. The last shape is absolutely gorgeous. More conservative than some that I have seen, but still have that unique G&G look to them.

If you are talking about peccary, I believe it is quite durable (if the shoes are well made of course). A friend of mine has a pair of loafers made of peccary that is about 20 years old. (also very souple)

Several comments, FWIW...carpincho is a big rodent. Peccary is a member of the pig family. Their hides would necessarily have different characteristics. If only because of their diets and life styles.

I've never handled or even seen carpincho. Nor anything I know for certain was peccary. I've used pigskin in several different tannages...and tannage makes a big difference.

Everyone has their own definition of "soft" and probably an accompanying mental image. But from the POV of a shoemaker, "soft" is not the first word I would want to see describing shoe or boot leather. A drapey "hand" makes good upholstery leather and fine jackets but for shoes it is often synonymous with short lived and "gets dirty quick."

FWIW...

i think Peccary is a different beast or at least tanned in a different manner, as this is Carpincho, when i saw Cleverleys version even they said it was glove leather

These arrived from Cleverley's today, midnight blue with burgundy, something a little funky.
