fritzl, indeed that would be nice, but I bought both my pairs as slightly used and no trees were included. For what I paid I can live with this.

    These are awesome.:slayer:

The setting back of the medallion a little further away from the toe is a great look.

Nice, but isn't the medallion on the right shoe off a bit? Perhaps it's just the camera angle, but it appears so in two pics. J

actually, this is considered a mistake. i dunno what the instructions have been, though.

imo, it's due to the cheap trees. the owner is happy, though. go figure.

jamaican, for some unknown reason the other medallion is indeed off-center. As the pair was made during Cleverley's Cork Street era (back when George himself supervised everything), I can only figure this was intentional.

They were made by hand, and the human hand is fallible. Therein lies the charm of the handmade article vs the machine-made.

I have a pair of original bespoke Cleverley butterfly slipons where the apron of one shoe is substantially off-center. Among other features, this distinguishes them from the mass-produced models that several makers now offer. It doesn't bother me a bit.

this is why some shoemakers add the medallion at the end

Yes, and no. Machine-made can be as off-kilter as these. Maybe more often, in point of fact, than hand-made. I've seen it many times right here on SF.

But having said that, what characterizes the best bespoke, hand-made makers is the absence of such mistakes. It's what separates the Anthony Delos' from the rest.

I knew it was unusual, but it looks good to me for some reason on this shoe.

actually, i have it on several pairs. in my case, it was a "mistake" by the patternmaker, hence my comment about the instructions from the customer.
