Well I would like to think everyone here have seen GQ advertising TheTieBar which is an excellent website to buy hip and trendy ties for only $15. As a 20 year business student I am looking to purchase a few ties for work and hanging out with my peers.

I am really interested into the skinny ties that are 2 1/2 in wide but I having trouble choosing which ones. If I were to get three different ties from this site then which ones would be the best for me in the long term, especially for future suits.

Right now I am looking at a solid navy blue tie, a navy gingham tie, and a crimson pin dot.

If anyone could help me out then that will be great. Thanks! [IMG]

Just an FYI: Tiebar ties are very thick. They are hard to tie, and end up creating massive knots.

You bought a lot of them before, right? Are you gonna buy from them again?

I've bought more than a dozen ties from Tie Bar and I have had no trouble making appropriately sized knots. Just use a half-windsor or pratt and the thickness won't be an issue. Unless you either a) like really tiny knots (which should be left in the '80s along with "flock-of-seagulls" haircuts) or you have an extremely tiny neck.

    How is the quality?

I've had good luck with Land's End and American Living (low-end Ralph Lauren made for JC Penney). They run about $25 each, and I won't feel bad if I spill coffee on them.

On the other hand, I was given a Givenchy tie, and that is not holding up well.

I've got a couple of $75 Italian made ties and I'd say the tie bar ties are of the same quality. My only complaint is that they aren't self-tipped.

Quality is below average IMO, they are very thick so in general they are durable

I've seen 10 or 20 of them and I dont agree, they are pretty low quality. On par with Geoffrey Beene or Van Heusen thick silks

    Quite thick, cheap silk

Even though idfnl probably has vested interests in discouraging people from buying inexpensive ties elsewhere (you'll notice that he sells a ton of ties on eBay as a business [IMG]), he's correct. I've seen a few Tie Bar ties in my day, and none of them impressed me.

Right you are. I can provide better value [IMG]

Seriously, I sell 10 pound lots of stuff not worth selling: guess where Tie Bar ties go?
