Oh yeah that looks WAY better in real light and with sleeves pulled down. I would love to see you in a jacket that's 1.6" longer (ie, the L instead of R.) Yes, having a huge unhemmed pile can affect how the fabric drapes, but usually not all the way at your thighs, which I bet can benefit from the change from Slim to Contemporary as well.

Honestly though, with a bit of tailoring, I think the R in Slim would work okay. It wouldn't be my "perfect tux" but especially with a little bit of wearing it, it'll be good enough for you ... wedding? Party? Whatever it is. When you do it, just make sure your studs are centered and your tux button is centered ;)
Haha yeah, this is essentially dressing room fit so I didn't put too much effort centering and making sure my bowtie is straight. The tag is still on the jacket and the shirt. I'll tag you in a few weeks once I have better shirt and the longer jacket/contemporary pants. Thanks a ton for your help!

Sun is back up, so here's a higher quality brighter picture with a head-level angle for you haha.
@gimpwiz I tried to pull down the jacket sleeve a bit but I only had 5 seconds delay on the camera so it rode up a tiny bit while I was running back over for the picture.

The pants inseam is like 38" so I feel like it would look different if it wasn't completely draping over the floor?

Not sure if this changes anything, and I have already ordered the 38L.

It does look better, but I still say it is a drop short.

Can I please get some feedback on this suit jacket?

No alteration have been done and I would intend to shorten the sleeves.

The back does not look very good to me. I am also getting some small bumps on both sides of the collar (photos 10 and 11) and some strange ripples on the chest (photo 9).

What would you recommend I pursue with a tailor? Any specific recommendation would be appreciated. Or, are we talking major surgery to get this jacket looking good?

If you are willing, Mr. @Despos it would be great to get your opinion/recommendations.

Yeah I think I associate slim with the opposite of boxy. I'm having a hard time picturing how the jacket would look with the ratio of chest/waist going down, do you happen to have a picture of your contemporary 36R? I wish they had model instead of mannequins on their site.

This is a 36R contemporary jacket.

Kind of related to the post above, but can the darts running from the chest and downwards on the fronts of a MTM-jacket be let out to create more space in the chest and stomach area? The sides have already been let out max. Or is the extra cloth from the darts usually cut off during construction?

sorry to break up the conversation like this but you know what its like trying to get a new thread answered on this forum

I had some waistcoats adjusted recently, I bought them in a second hand shop but they were a good make and in great condition
but the tailor who did the job wasn't the best I'm afraid and now when the bottom button is undone the waistcoat pulls apart at the bottom showing my dress shirt and makes me look like peter wyngarde

I also know for a fact its not the size, I had my guitarist try it on yesterday and he's built like an anorexic beanpole and he had the same issue
anybody got any advice?

Hi, long time lurker first time poster. I got this suit from Spier and Mackay and it will obviously need some alterations. There's a ton of room in the waist (had to get contemporary instead of slim since I couldn't get 42L in slim) and I'll get the sleeves shortened, but I'm mostly concerned with the back.
Sending it back is still an option. Any feedback on what to do or whether it's worth doing at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Post photos please.

I think the advice will probably be to bring it back for another round, explaining the issues to your tailor, or to find another tailor.

Hello, can I please get input on the fit and any proposed adjustments for this Proper Cloth shirt? One issue I’d like to correct is the diagonal line from the shoulder to the top button on the right side.

Got the 38L Contemporary Fit and a new shirt (which I think sleeves are a bit too short, so it will be sent in for remake.

What do you guys think? Keep the 38L Contemporary or 38R Slim

Hi there.
I recently got this MTO Blazer and OTR trousers from Spier and Mackay. I'm currently considering ordering a MTO Suit from them. The blazer seems like a really good fit, only with a bit of rumpling on the small of the back. The trousers seem to hang a little oddly with the hem behind the heel and some rumpling down the leg.

I was wondering why these problems are occurring, how they could be altered, and what to change or request from Spier in my upcoming order to fix this.

Thanks!

What do you think? To me it’s pretty clear which fits you better. But you need to develop your own eye for what works best on your frame.

Hi all. Obviously several issues with the jacket in these pictures, but my question is really specific. I cannot figure out what is going on with the top of the shoulders—there is a small fold of fabric that runs from roughly the midpoint of one shoulder, behind my neck, to the midpoint of the other shoulder. It's most visible from behind; it's only a little bit visible from the front unless you're looking down at the shoulders.

This has been bugging me with RTW and MTO jackets from several different sellers. I've had two different alterationists tell me they knew how to fix it, only to make the jackets worse in various ways. The folks at Luxire made some progress on the issue but have not been able to explain what exactly is happening. Even if they could totally fix it, I would like to understand the problem so I know how it affects my non-Luxire options—in particular, I am wondering whether it could be addressed using the shoulder slope options that SuitSupply and Spier & Mackay offer.

The issue should be most obvious in the close-up photos, where the camera was slightly above my shoulders instead of level with my sternum. @Despos I would be particularly grateful for your input if you have time.
