The length is fine and would look off if you shortened this jacket. The pocket and button point won't jive with a shorter length. The jacket looks a size too big in the chest, back could be reduced and you have a low left shoulder, causing the stress on the button.

what size is this? the shoulders are not too wide. the chest cannot be made larger. your only hope is the next larger size. the waist and seat bare too tight. there may not be enough inside so that this can be made larger. your tailor can check for this. the trouser pockets are gaping that means that its too tight. when being fitted for the sleeve length, be sure that you are wearing a shirt with the correct sleeve length. i know you want to spread your wings and fly. but you really cant. so please dont flap your arms like that.

    Thank you much

    Sugarbutch, thanks and hook 'em

Would yall get another of the same jacket, same size (obviously different material), or would either of you think the issues are too significant. I've my own thoughts, but I'd love others to weigh in.

Hey guys I could use some help, I picked up this vintage PRL in a thrift. Union made, fully canvassed and really cool. I thought it fit in the store but now I'm having second thoughts, are the large lapels and my small head clashing? I know that the length of the jacket is too short by traditional standards but as a SC that I'll wear with jeans I actually like that, I'm more concerned about proportions.

^^This is how I want it to look! Is it just in my head or is it my head? Thanks!

    Thanks for the reply!
I'm getting a remake and they suggested shaving 1" off my shoulder measurement to probably fix it but I think it's too much? Here's a complete view of my suit, please suggest other changes if you see fit.

To get Mr. Lauren's look you'd need awfully extended shoulders that you probably won't find with RTW. Lacking a side view, I actually think your jacket fits pretty darn well in the chest and shoulders. And nice lapels!

    Dear Tailors,

I have a quick fit request on my first (well, second since it's a re-make) MTM shirt. I requested a re-make because the sleeves were obviously too long. When I went to my tailor for measurements for my suit, I brought the suit and he recommended taking 2" off the sleeves. When I received my re-make, at first I thought the sleeves were way too short. I've tried the shirt on two more times since then and now I'm not so sure. I'm used to wearing OTR shirts and admittedly, not wearing them all that often because work didn't require it until now. Now that I'm wearing dress shirts, I'm wondering if I've been "doing it wrong" the entire time with sleeves that were too long. So I've attached two pictures. One with just the shirt and one with the shirt and my re-made suit coat. I guess I'm just used to seeing some sleeve outside the coat sleeve. I'll post pics of the suit later on, but I think the suit re-make went fairly well. Please let me know what you think on the sleeves (and apologies for the poor pictures...I'm not a photographer and neither is my spouse).

    regards, J.

your shirt sleeves probably end exactly where your suit sleeve ends, likely in everyday usage you'd see your shirt cuffs quite often, but then again, yes, the suit sleeve is likely 1/4" too long, and your sleeve maybe 1/4" to 1/2" too short.

you're nitpicking, and without the jacket the shirt looks completely fine imo..... well, other than the fact that you didn't line up your placket with your buckle.... that drives me crazy every day i swear lol.

I noticed the shirt/pants/buckle line myself. For what it's worth, it drives me crazy too....unfortunately a victim of time as it's Halloween and there are more important things to attend to other than posing for a camera.

I agree, I feel like it's maybe 1/2 an inch too wide from the back shoulder to shoulder. I defer to expertise as to whether cleaning up either from the sides or back will eliminate the shoulder and back issues that are there. In terms of the cuff, I'm fine with that much shirt cuff with french cuffs. Rushing purchases/alterations always leads to folly.

    Gents,

Reasons for choosing Indochino aside, I am looking for some constructive criticism on my first suit. I'm an Army Officer and not a regular suit wearer so it's safe to say that I'm lost in the sauce.

So SF, does this suit fit good/bad/other, and can a tailor alter this to be good/acceptable or should I demand a remake. Wedding is in about 3.5 weeks so I need to act quickly.

I did my best to show the suit as best I could with a self timer and crappy lighting. I am sorry for the wrinkles in the suit, I understand that it isn't draping 100% correctly. This suit does is designed to be pretty slim I'm sure and the sleeves look a little short. It also seems that the jacket is taking on the form/wrinkles of the slim fit BB dress shirt worn underneath, which may explain some of the creases on the arms.

Thanks for your help in advance!

From what I can tell it seems the sleeves are too long and the button stance too high? I am also wondering, I see suits that fit like this: http://i.imgur.com/FjGpU.jpg

They have some natural pull away at the front button to reveal the underlying shirt, opposed to just hanging flat down. What is it that is preventing my suit from fitting that way?

Gentlemen, I'm bumping this up as I think it got lost with a bunch of other posts and haven't heard back. Would love to hear how you guys think this can be altered to look just right. Thanks!

    Anti-black magic bump.

And to my very untrained eye Llyod, it seems you have a great excess of fabric mid torso and between the shoulders.
