This is awesome - do you happen to have a list of excellent alterations tailors too (for jobs like finishing sleeves that go beyond simple hemming)

Sorry, I don't. Some of the tailors listed above (Zink & Sons, for example) are happy to do alterations work on suits even if they didn't create them. There is an excellent alterations tailor in the Gowings building (he is used by Zegna, Harrolds, etc) but I seem to have lost his business card. Maybe someone else can help with his name?

I believe the tailor you're referring to is:
Hayel & Son Alterations & Tailoring
They have moved a few years ago and are no longer in the Gowings Building. Now at:
Suite 301 (level 3), 250 Pitt St, Sydney NSW 2000

I've used M&R tailors for alterations and bespoke trousers. Happy with all the work to date.

Hi,

Has anyone had a positive (or negative) experience commissioning either a suit or an unstructured jacket from Remy MTM in Sydney? I was originally thinking about adding to my wardrobe from P Johnson but after reading through some of the comments from customers about garments being mainly constructed in China but sold as Made in Italy, and some quality control issues, not really keen.
Any pics of finished pieces would be greatly appreciated as well.

Suggest you post your question on the Australian Members thread . . . more likely to get a reply. It's here: https://www.styleforum.net/threads/...ll-get-what-this-is-all-about.518027/page-622

Any recent experiences for a blazer? Keep leaning to P Johnson (most of the negative reviews I’ve seen are 2+ years old)... and none of the other MTM’s have enough comments to give confidence...

Plenty of options around, but yes you would be hard pressed to find even a single review on some of the shops.
That's not to say you can't get a good result from them.

If you aren't sure, best thing is to go to each shop and try on a sample jacket they have in store, that will give you an idea of what their silhouette will look like on you.

Also, if you're on a budget, consider ready-to-wear from Suit Supply and get it altered. They have a decent selection of sport coats with some cool fabrics.

Does anyone know how to contact Herman Bros & Co. in Sydney? Emailed and did not receive a response.
