Yes he was. I have a funny memory of a friend telling me a story of smoking weed from his corncob pipe with Julius Hemphill outside a show they were about to play in Portland.

It was kinda nuts. I saw them at this club called Fender's in Long Beach. Crazy loud and the entire place was moshing. I was a nerdy college kid, glued to the back wall. I think it was 1987, geezus. I had their first 3 or 4 albums on cassette which I played over and over. Rocket to Russia and End of The Century. oy, I'm old. ; )

I saw GZA perform Liquid Swords awhile ago at the Independent. Could be the thickest weed I've ever been in. I kinda wish I'd been more familiar with WuTang. On the other hand, I love Tribe and the only time I had a chance to see them, I missed the show due to Ms Parker's French Class dinner.

I know! I barely know any French so I was lost the whole time too.

We actually went to the concert after the dinner thinking "it's a hip hop show, they probably won't even go on until 11". We showed up to the theater at 10:45 and people were streaming out, show over. Doh.
