guys, sturgill simpson is a goddamn delight.

he makes 2 "outsider country" albums to critical acclaim and commercial success, then, instead of riding that into a comfortable existence, makes a brass-backed doowop album about his newborn son (with the daptones!), also to critical acclaim, THEN makes a surprise fuzzed out swamp rock/funk album, which is like the best version of queens of the stone age meets zz tops.

now he's back with bluegrass record made up of recuts of his back catalogue. and it's awesome. also what an album cover.

A classic from my youth. Kind of upset Spotify only has the remastered version — it kills the nostalgia.

PUP, your favorite punk rocking canadians, are back with the aptly titled "this place sucks ass" EP. 5 songs that didn't make last year's (awesome) "morbid stuff" and a grandaddy cover!

I was feeling a little festive today, and thought I'd share a spooky Halloween tune. Anyway, have a good one.

One of the cleverest (lyrically, compositionally) punk bands there ever was.

This album, plus PJ Harvey's Rid of Me were released within a few months of each other. Two great records that opened the door to women being frankly sexual music. Girly Sound tapes are good too if you haven't heard them.

Question for anyone who can answer- what's the best option for buying vinyl online?

Try Amoeba Records in LA . Broad and deep inventory and used to have free shipping. Moderate prices

Perhaps this will get more appreciation here - dark electronic has been my mood for weeks:

Opener from the most criminally underappreciated album of the 1970s. What Jethro Tull would sound like if they had joined a pagan cult.
