The best part of any of their songs might be near the end where Martin Gore rolls in with his plaintive wailing and Andy Fletcher bounces it right back at him playing notes made of Gore’s own voice, and why was the keyboard never known as the electric piano?...

I heard this on TV tonight, and am left wondering how I’ve never heard it before. This is good. Dire Straits is really good.

Doing tornado cleanup and listening to every version of White Light/White Heat the VU recorded, and then a few versions they didn't. Out of my mind on 20 cups of the free church coffee they're passing out. When someone near me revs a chainsaw the song only gets better. Ralph Stanley version for the part of the day where I walk back home.

Yeah you're right, I like rap/hip hop to a certain extent, and four tet/burial/sbtrkt are awesome ('specially live), but this whole modern rap culture at the moment that is loved primarily by rich white kids is annoying (I think there was a discussion about this in a different thread a while back). I mean I can get behind some older rap and rap of that style, but a lot of the modern rap artists (that I know of) are really awful.

Wow, I haven’t heard the name SBTRKT in forever. I know what I’m listening to at work today.

I got to see Bowie do WL/WH with Lou Reed at his 50th birthday bash. There’s a recording of the show that was on HBO(?)
