I hate lists but this was one I made for 2013:

Liked:

Tim Hecker - Virgins
Blondes - Swisher
Jenny Hval - Innocence Is Kinky
Jon Hopkins - Immunity
Autre Ne Veut - Anxiety
Marnie Stern - The Chronicles of Marnia
Deafhaven - Sunbather
Laurel Halo - Chance of Rain, Behind the Green Door
The Knife - Shaking the Habitual
Oneohtrix Never - R Plus Seven

Uneven:

Speedy Ortiz - Major Arcana
Pusha T - My Name is My Name
Neko Case - The Worse Things Get...
Julia Holter - Loud City Song

Guilty pleasure:

CHVRCHES - The Bones Of What You Believe

More of the same:

Julianna Barwick - Nepenthe

Disappointing:

Haim - Forever
Darkside - Psychic

She's done covers of Nine Inch Nails, Nirvana, and Michael Jackson. I'm in love.

I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to Merzbow, and the likes of Venereology is a bit much for me, but enjoying this

Been listening to some older noise-y stuff too:

La Monte Young and co in the 60s

Some dudes who were part of Fluxus, from the 70s

(this one gets good around the 2:30 mark when the violin comes in)

Just bought tix to Fuji Rock day 3, anyone have recs of some bands I might be missing?
Arcade Fire and St. Vincent are playing the day before, but I just can't justify paying $400 (two tix) for two bands, especially when I've seen AF five times in smaller venues

Planning on hitting up the Flaming Lips, Outkast, Kelis, Pains of Being Pure at Heart, and Owen Pallett, maybe Lorde if the set times work out (they won't)
Excited to see the Lips, I know there's been some issues with them and their drummer lately, but last time I saw them this happened:

Haven't really gotten into The Lips, but man Do You Realize? is such a beautiful tune in all its simplicity. The lyrics are just a kick in the guts, in the best way possible. Can't imagine how cool it would be to be chanting it from the top off my lungs at their concert.
