New Araabmuzik has nothing on Electronic Dream, but it has a few tracks that I listened to multiple times yesterday, namely Street Knock. I don't like the songs where he uses that very hard drum machine sound like he does at his live shows.

I often think that in my past life I played drums or maybe just maracas for a tropicalia / bossanova outfit.

    side note:
I was going to post a "guilty pleasures" set, but realized I might be boo-ed out of SW&D for it.

I could never get into that Caretaker record no matter how many people told me i should like it. There are some nice pieces but the fuss seemed unwarranted. Great, well done, you can edit old ballroom music.

Sip did post the one worthwhile track off it though, or maybe I just feel that way because it makes me think I'm back at Sleep No More

I am a big fan of Can though. Only really got round to listening properly to them last year and felt stupid for taking so long.

Here's some stuff i've been into lately:

Cacciapaglia is an Italian composer / pianist. This is maybe one of my favourite pieces from him, even if the beginning is maybe it's weakest point. This piece is from 1979 when Cacciapaglia was clearly influenced by the likes of Steve Reich and Terry Riley; quite minimal, crystalline six-note patterns etc. The section around 4 minutes onward really reminds me of Reich's Different Trains. It gets very interesting. Great to do work to if you're looking for something like that.

The Clean were/are one of the most popular bands on the famous New Zealand Flying Nun label. NZ produced so much incredible simple and catchy pop music in the 1980s and i think this might be my favourite track from the whole scene. I think NZ still has a really good music scene now, too.

I have a love/hate thing with this because the girl i had the biggest crush on used to play it a lot. I'm not too crazy about the rest of the This Mortal Coil stuff but this track is easily one of the prettiest things i've heard.

My favourite Yellow Magic Orchestra track. Pretty much everything Haruomi Hosono Ryuichi Sakamoto touch is gold.

Okay, i should stop or i'll just keep going and going.

Cool post. That Cacciapaglia stuff is pretty good, I'll definitely be looking more into him. And of course that track by The Clean is a great one.

    Let's take it back:

I've always liked Neu! more than Can, but both are great.

I think Stars is the best The Clean song:

Also, I just found a rip of the concert from Shut Up And Play The Hits (last LCD Soundsystem Concert movie) so it's like a live album...sooooo good!
