Brown cord blazer is classic. I wear mine like scruffy professor style. But I dunno if it will be cool like edgy... ever. At least so far as images of douchy tee shirts + slim black blazers.

what you can do with it depends on what wale it is... thick or thin?

nice suggestion fellas thanks. its thin wale, slimmer and shorter than the usual mc- approved proportion... natural shoulder, 3 roll 2. also layering is no go since im near equator, i guess that is the factor that makes it so out of place

I've been wearing my black linen unlined blazer.. .but there can be only so much you can do with it. White v-neck underneath, white linen pocket square, black slim jeans and sleek boot Fuuma style... but the natural shoulders on mine create a slight dissonance with the sleek lower half. Also the buttons are basic plastic black.. I guess I should change them (any recs?). And finally.. when I change the tee to a tucked in white ocbd it felt dissonant again now that the bottom half is jeans. Probably a grey wool trousers will work. I notice that black blazer only work with with polar extremes, white insides or black. I tried grey OCBD and the black just died... or was it because the rustic nature of grey OCBD calls for tan SC or non-linen material...

I think you're doing it right: white tee, black or gray jeans, boots. To me, black -- even black linen -- has a certain formality, so goes best with a white -- or sometimes black -- shirt. A little bit of structure in the shoulder is nice, but the soft look is ok too imo.

Can someone recommend something that's basically a nicer version of the H&MMM suit jacket in terms of fit, preferably cheaper than mainline MMM? Buying blazers online has always been a crapshoot for me.

It's pretty slim fit, not very long, with raised-up shoulders but doesn't look formal... I can post a pic if that'll help but snowman already did in waywt

Julien, can you not use measurements from the HMMMM as a guideline? 100% agree that buying anything structured online is a crapshoot, but has eBay not turned up any NOS or older MMM? Back catalog is pretty large

I'm pretty sure it's W+H actually (assuming we're talking about the jacket here)

Yeah I can but measurements don't really tell the whole story - I want that combination of structure but still casual and it's really tough to glean from pictures, at least as someone who's never really worn blazers. Was hoping to get a few brands to look at.

OIC. I've seen a lot of mandarin collar type jackets that are close to being perfect, but there's always some extraneous detail/etc. that kills it for me.

Is this thread at all helpful? I might just sporadically post photos for kicks and giggles. Or maybe not.

To answer a question someone asked about how to wear a blazer and jeans. It's not so easy to do imo. The only thing I'd say is make sure none of your elements is too "business-y". Some random photos I had in my Looks folder.

I really like the idea of this thread. I might post some pics soon but I have a question - I picked up a mmm blazer on ebay which I'm pretty sure is fully canvassed, and the weight of the canvassing (or whatever) causes the lapels to sort of "collapse" towards the center when it's on a hanger, if that makes any sense. Whereas other blazers' front buttons line up on the hanger, these overlap by a few inches - though it's perfect when worn. This causes creases in the back that mess up the fit. Is there some way I can hang it so this doesn't happen? I can provide pics if that'll help.
