I love these boots! The double oiled leather sole on this boot is supposed to enhance durability in the wet, however I'm not sure how effective this really is in practise. The oiled sole gives greater traction overall, compared to a regular leather sole, but it is also softer and appears to wear down alot easier too. Does anyone have any experience with Alden's Double Waterloc Sole?

nevertheless, appreciate all the comments, guys. i was gonna chuck them, but seemed such a waste of good leather . i can understand how they might look a bit odd and mawkish to a lot of ppl... even cartoonish, in a "pokemon" kinda way. i srsly find them quirky and unusual. i don't see/notice them much in NYC [ overall concensus' prolly why

] . i guess, way too much "Lightning" & "Free&Easy" for me @Kinukuniya

i can always take the guard off when i'm tired with them. it'll be like having another pair of shoes . i'm no MC dresser , to start with ... and this is "The streetwear shoes and boots thread..." after all. so, despite the overwhelming dislike for the LW [and/or the tongue], i think i'll stick with them and rock 'em proudly

nah tongue guards are a cool detail. That stuff is probably more appreciated on SUFU though.

tnx, Vashin. you're the single dissenting voice who saw the beauty in the [soon to be] swan... or rooster.
