1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Some of the Rushden's aren't too bad, but they're very variable.
The real low-end Grenson's are awful.
The old Grenson Masterpiece line seems defunct (were very nice), but there are still a few designs in the Grenson Rose line (dress shoes though) and they're nice quality, albeit with a slightly stiff (but robust) upper.

I've got a couple pairs of Grenson's for Rag & Bone and a pair they made for Black Fleece which are pretty nice quality.
But the Grenson branded stuff I've seen in stores have been pretty bad.
The Black Fleece ones are from summer of '10 so hopefully they're still producing the good stuff.

    Need some help choosing between:

    http://www.barneys.com/Elf/077605013,default,pd.html?cgid=SHOES04 In black calf

    or

    http://www.barneys.com/Elf/077605013,default,pd.html?cgid=SHOES04

I've never handled the Buttero boots, so for anyone who's seen, tried or owned them please do add your opinion on fit, quality, sleekness, etc. I tried on the F+B and I really liked them, but I don't want to purchase without getting imput on the Buttero boots. Also for those in the Bay Area, which of the gimme shoes' has the best selection of F+B boots.

idk i feel those are a bit too plain for me, but if thats what you are going for than these would be good everyday sturdy boots,
although looks-wise the f&bs look better, its free shipping from barneys so u can take a risk

these look awesome but i probably would not wear.

they are awesome. let me correct myself, i wouldn't know how to wear them. aesthetically, they look pleasing to my eyes

jet, i actually like those. perhaps my eyes are lying and still following the hype of the chunky sole/creepers or w/e but i like them. in terms of quality etc. i have no clue. don't even know the maker.
now that i think about it, would wear here in northern cali winter (eh, might slip with that sole though). but since we're just given photos and my own lack of experience, i can only judge by the face value

So I bought the bayfield captoe boots on the recent lands' end deal. I sized down a half from my typical sneaker size knowing nothing about AE sizing and just going with standard boot sizing being slightly large. Lengthwise they seem fine, but the toe box area is rather tight width-wise. Will the leather here break in and make it more comfortable or do they simply not fit? I will say, though, that they look awesome and I'm quite pleased in all other respects.

the slope on those looks bigger than most SD I have seen. Is it just the angle of that photograph?

Maybe it's the camera angle...here are a couple pics with a better angle. BTW I'm loving the evo of the leather already, have only worn them 3 days. These are the most comfortable boots I have ever worn. The leather is soft, the boots are heavy, and the construction is unbelievable!
