The story of Guy Burgess in Moscow and the best historical movie ever made for lovers of fine English clothing and shoes. It is funny too. It helps if you are familiar with the Philby, Burgess and McLean MI-5 spy scandal of the 1950s.

I've been saying for ages there's a great movie waiting to be made about this story. They touched on it I think, or at least the origins, in 'Another Country' but I've never seen it.

My Uncle was Marcus Lipton MP, who called out Philby in the House of Commons (the only place where you are exempt from slander). He was shouted down at the time, but vindicated later when Philby did a Captain Oates and nicked off to Russia to drown himself in a bottle.

Chariots of Fire and the Brideshead Revisited miniseries had a huge impact on my tastes in clothes. No occasion to ever wear one, but I still want a regatta blazer to this day.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
