Thanks. I think I'll try first with my black DJ. I'm on the cusp of commissioning a velvet double-breasted DJ in Holland & Sherry's "Mustard" color. I think that would be a good combo. I'm not a fan of loafers in any form (except for Loro Piana's Summer Walk loafers). I've found some white patent shoes, although with black soles. I'll see what I think about the when I get them. I agree that black would not be a good choice.First of all, congratulations on your upcoming experiment. I think the ivory grosgrain is an inspired touch that will also work well if and when you wear the trews with one of the non-black DJs.
I do wonder if black shoes might not be too much of a contrast with the ivory fabric. If you'e even consider weariNg Belgian slippers with a DJ, perhaps some lighter (fawn, grey, etc.) ones could look good with that? Just thinkign laterally.
No, the Esquire illustration was the one that I was thinking of.There was another, too. Same basic idea, though: riffed from the navy blazer format, while near water in summer weather.
Perhaps. I'm sure I could get Edward Green to make me something that will work. Having said that, I already have a "white buck" version of their Dover. That would be exactly what you were suggesting.White bucks? Perhaps with a proper leather sole and not the red crepe.
