Today is my first opera visit this year. Verdis Rigoletto is performed. My choice felt on a velvet tuxedo with shawl collar.

So who was the third?
The third was the world premiere of The Big Hunger by Trey McIntyre. He was able to choreograph ballet to Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 2 which is extraordinarily complex yet still with a melody enough to dance to (kinda). This was a bit out of the ordinary - it favored momentum rather than perfect form (lots to running, jumping, and catching) and had a sense of trying to escape when the world is crumbling around you. Different, but enjoyable to watch.

I was wondering if you left someone out of the photo.

Dining with my valentine seemed like a good reason to try out my red waistcoat.
(Some black tie trivia - we ate at Delmonico’s, where the dinner jacket made its public debut.)

Probably one of the ticket-takers. They’re always jumping in everyone’s pics, but you can’t blame them since no one ever pays them any mind.
That is one way of thinking about it.

Can anyone point me in the direction of the best tuxedo I am likely to find in the UK high street for under £500? I want to keep it very simple and classic as it will hopefully last me a lifetime of very occasional (once every few years) use.
Have looked at John Lewis and Charles Twyri... however it's spelled and both have what seems to my untrained eye perfectly acceptable options for around £300. If I spent a little more, and shopped well, am I likely to find something a bit more special/ desirable, with a more luxury or heritage label? John Lewis also has nice looking Hackett and Reiss options as well as it's own-label stuff ... In my price range but is the quality any better or am I simply paying for the name?
Am I missing anything better I could be looking at? I'm in London so shopping options are pretty good and I'd really rather buy something I can try on first, rather than getting something online.
I can't wait for the sales so I'm probably looking at paying full price if I do go for one of the pricier, "designer" (rather than high street/department store) labels. But I have access to a fairly good range of outlet stores - Hackett, Gant, Brooks Brothers, Reiss, Ralph Lauren, Aquascutum etc - anyone know if any of those are worth keeping an eye on?
Or am I really best at my price point just to go for a John Lewis own label one and get it well tailored to fit me?
