1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

I'm afraid that the look on my face wouldn't have been very pleasant to see.

Just to be clear, I didn't recommend captoes because they are the most appropriate for evening wear. I just assumed they would be a better investment for your overall shoe wardrobe.

Here's mine. I'll wear it before I die, although probably somewhere I won't mind not being invited back.

I happened to be standing near a group conversing at a BT event when someone happily showed off his tux shirt with patterned back & sleeves. A stodgy guy sniffed..."I would never wear a shirt like that, because I NEVER remove my jacket." A gorgeous woman near him replied, "Well, I would never remove my dress either, but that doesn't mean I can't smile about what I'm wearing underneath!" Touché! Why not have a little fun?

It looks a bit like something that my sons might come home with. Somehow they manage to go shopping for clothes and return home with things that don't fit. I've told them several times, "Try things on. If they don't fit, don't buy them." But they seem to manage to somehow forget this.

I beleive single breasted tuxes should have only one button... ehances the tuxedo and makes it less "suit" like

or maybe $1000 per sneaker :)

Yes, one button is correct. Two buttons is mildly acceptable, but if you combine it with flap pockets like that, it's just a "suit with shiny lapels." (Black Tie Guide) You run that risk with a two button jacket all the time, but the pockets really dress this one down. At least it has peak lapels.

Can anyone comment on whether those are patent leather or calf shoes?

They had hoped to become a calf one day, but sadly they're an abortion.

Holy cow! I actually followed the link to the web site that sells that and am now pretty much speechless. The tux is $2,400 and the sneakers that they suggest wearing with it are $645.

IIRC, my highly-spiffy (and highly-traditional) Zegna tux listed for $2,500. I believe that I actually paid less than half that, which really isn't too hard to do with suits. And I'm fairly sure that I got a much better deal.

Mr Porter does carry some good stuff, but they're also the same people who gave us this "advice" on Youtube:

    Hi guys,

My Ebay tuxedo arrived today, first impressions are favourable considering the price and how often I will get to wear it

Fabric is 100% wool and lapel facings are satin. In hindsight I should have ordered the R instead of the L

Maybe my tailor can shorten it?

I had considerd the Benjamin from Ehaberdasher and I'm sure it's a better product, but this will work for me.
