I can vouch for the neodymium magnets. They will definitely hold a single rose in place and you'll be able to dance all night without it moving.

If going with the magnet option just make sure your wallet isn't in the inside pocket behind that lapel as it could potentially fuck up your credit cards.

Yes. Just have the florist wrap one magnet into the boutonniere with floral tape, which is green and matches the flower's stem. Then put the second magnet behind your lapel. Easy.

Is not having a lapel hole acceptable, unusual, or wrong?

I think the very old school believes DJ should have no lapel hole to give the continuity of the lapel facing.

What's "very old school"? 19th century?

    Per blacktieguide.com:

"Classic sartorial pundits strongly recommend that all dinner jackets have a working buttonhole on the left lapel for a boutonniere (buttonhole in UK – the literal translation of the French term). Ready-to-wear jackets may have to be taken to a qualified tailor who will know where to locate the hole and how to skillfully add it to the silk-faced lapel. Custom-made formal jackets will also sometimes have a stem holder on the reverse side of the lapel."

(By the way, could you offer a blackwatch tartan in the future?).

I had to post in here because there had been 666 posts since my last post and as a good Catholic I just can't have that.

I think breaking the rule a little bit is more fun and exciting. But it's still nice to wear something comfortable and looked good on us. Don't overdressed.

I am going to a wedding in May. It's in Texas. The wedding party is wearing black tie. The wedding is not black tie. Except for me, as I have been specifically asked to wear black tie, even though I am not in the wedding party.
