Going to see my tailor next week to plan a dark blue/midnight tux for my wedding. I want something that will look snazzy on the big day but also versatile enough that I can hopefully use it for black tie events for many years to come. I’m really inspired by this post this Steven Hitchcock post. I love the turn up cuffs - what do you think? I’m thinking about adding a little waistcoat as well. Also, any recommendations for fabrics?

I'll echo @The Chai and recommend a mohair formal cloth for your jacket. I'll also suggest trying extra hard to find a midnight blue silk for the facings. It's worth it. For mine, I was able to source a midnight blue satin silk and it makes a huge difference to the overall look.

Didn't you get your facings from the lining company?

Yes I find satin matches better with mohair over grosgrain, that said I have a midnight grosgrain with my midnight mohair cashmere.

Great photos, love the Gatsby parties - it's one of few events I can wear tux, the other is usually the philharmonic.

Love this! I remember seeing this tux on your IG while back and it helped inspire me to go midnight vs black. I’m going to try to source midnight facings as well.

It’s even in linen! Problem is: the lapels aren’t a satin or grosgrain finish. Is that a problem? You of all people would know. Trying to figure out if this is a legit summer black tie jacket or a wolf in sheep’s clothing

You are very kind. For a cream linen shawl lapel dinner jacket, I think it is better to have it be self-faced, meaning the lapels are simply the same fabric as the jacket itself. If that Brooks Brothers jacket is your size, I'd say you should go for it.

Bright coloured jackets look so much better with self-facings. DC's jacket is not an exception.
