Today may be the last time I wear my Sartoria Formosa tuxedo, as I have one on order with Steven Hitchcock that should be in my hands before my brother's black tie wedding in early March. I am conflicted, because I love this tuxedo (got married in it, it's my first tuxedo and it looks great) but there are just a few things I want different on it that I am excited Steven can get this project done for me before the wedding.

From a couple of months ago, at the grand opening/dedication for a new event space at our church. Apologies for the poor lighting and photo quality in general.

In a short while, I will be proceeding the Morgan Library for a black tie festivity for the holiday season.

I've had two conversations of late that influenced my choice of attire, with a little help from the Friday Challenge as well.

A few days ago, I had posted a remark noting that I miss shopping on Jermyn St., and one of my friends sardonically noted that I was in need of a dinner jacket (evidence to the contrary below). Earlier today, another friend, familiar with my assortment of dinner jackets, suggested that it was seasonably proper for me to wear that which I chose for this evening. As it is the holiday season, I have chosen accessories in colors more suited to the season than to the strict rules of black tie.

Dinner jacket & trousers - Ede & Ravenscroft
Shirt, tie, and pocket square - Brooks Brothers
Stud set - no name brand
Braces - New & Lingwood
Shoes - Paul Stuart house brand
Overcoat - Turnbull & Asser
Scarf - Harvie & Hudson, London
Hat - Lock, London

Along with my attire for tonight, I am posting sample photos of the spectrum of my evening attire, the acquisition of which in three out of five cases, I blame on "COVID shopping". In all cases, the main items were all seriously marked down.

Though I'd happily take it off your hands if reasonably close in size, that seems like one you ought to (this may well be your POV) hang on to, for the memories if nothing else, unless space/circumstances demand moving on from it. Hoard those memories!

I appreciate it man. It’s a 50R, not sure if it’s your size or reasonably close. But my wife had the same idea, asked if I wanted to do a midnight tux with shawl or something different. I think black Barathea with peak is my place in the world so I don’t see a lot of overlap between the two

Formosa’s an odd bird for me. I’ve pretty much found myself to be 52 in most RTW makers, but seems like Formosa 52 is jusssttttt a touch big on my frame. 50 is by no means a perfect fit (especially in the upper arm region), but it’s not Chris Farley “fat guy on a little coat” status either.
If you decide to move on from it, feel free to DM me in the coming months, though, as mentioned, I’d be on Team Keep It haha.

If it’s going out, you’ll have right of first refusal

Seems like a perfectly reasonable, slightly understated collection to me. The ivory waistcoat is also rather nice. Where is it from?
