Hmmm...the scale of that pattern is a bit on the fence of something that might look best with matching pants. I guess you could wear solid black semi-formal pants with it. Is the material silk? I'm guessing that's a Tom Ford, based on the lapel buttonhole.

54% silk, 42% cotton 4% polyester. Yeah i was thinking that. And yes its Tom Ford.

Edit: And no this was never sold with matching pants, and they still have jackets along these lines at the store, which i always found a bit confusing.

Well, I will incur foo-wrath, but I think that jacket would look best going completely louche, like with black velvet semi-formal pants. Good luck finding such a thing, and even if you have it made, good luck getting good silk velvet.

The result would be something that you probably wouldn't wear to a straight-laced event.

I like fun dinner suits, though, as adjuncts to having the basics.

I've never owned a jacket with sentience before. That must take some fancy tailoring.

Matching trousers seem a bit much. Ironically, the jacket would be easier to wear if it weren't black.

Thats what i was thinking too, like if i was blue or even like purple i think it would go better with black formal trousers as opposed to this current one.

Ironically, she would look better if the shades had a green rather than blue tint.

Not ironic, because that's obviously true.

I get to wear my dinner suit again in a couple of months. Even better, there are sure to be a whole bunch of well-dressed men in attendance. Will take pictures if possible. May be epic. Well, SF-epic, at least.

Your dinner suit, only with side vents, is exactly what I'd want as an alternative to the classic 1 btn peak w/ grosgrain facing. It's beautiful. What are you wearing as a formal shoe these days?
