Love solid navy but it has to have some texture:

Learning to love grey/black ties though:

    What ties are these?

Don't you think navy-on-navy is boring or do you consider navy to be a range of colours? I always thought of it as one particular shade of blue which works miracles on charcoal. Never been a fan of burgundy or red ties. Love British Racing Green ties on navy or charcoal as well!

I have a Pal Zileri solid navy herringbone that is really versatile. My next solid will be a Sam Hober grenadine. I might go navy, or perhaps burgundy.

I think solid navy is boring...

when it has an interesting texture or some color on it, like dots, patters or whatever else is acceptable....

I love solid navy ties. I wore a solid navy knit tie with a navy suit, white shirt, and navy pocket square with whit polka dots on new years eve and received many compliments. My solid navy or navy with white/silver pin dots is my usual go to tie for most occasions.

The bottom is one of those newfangled RLPL 7 fold ties. The top is a Brioni so thick and plush that it floored me when I saw it and is the only tie in the last three years that I have paid full retail for.

I love brown shoes with grey or navy suits and solid navy, hunter green and gold ties - how do you think brown shoes match with a solid burgundy tie though ?

What did you think of these? I wasn't that impressed with them. . .

Nothing that I would spend $245 on. I think ties are the weakest part of the RLPL lineup.

I snagged two Brioni grenadines at the BGs sale too, Ed. One in rust and one in plum, gorgeous ties. IIRC, they were $119 on sale.

Yeah, I wasn't crazy about the $175 retail but this was the last navy and I knew it was not going to make it to the sale and I have yet to see grenadines as nice as these so I dove in.
