Just some hilarious irony in that I put these Natty Shell Grayson's on to drop of my Randolph's at the cobbler for repair and take the pooch to the park. Must have scuffed them getting in or out of the car. Didn't notice it until we got to the park. 5 minutes with a dear bone, brush, rag, and a dab of Collonil 1909 and they are almost as good as new........

Nothing like the recuperative powers of Horween shell.

I have this happen a lot on my Allen Edmonds Bradley shell cordovans. They seem liable to getting scuffs and scratches. I find that an even better solution is to use some pigmented cordovan cream. As you can see a slight scuff here even now, if you put a bit of pigmented cream on it (I recommend saphir) you would get rid of even that.

Shell cordovan literally needs to be -gouged- to be unrepairable from scratches. In that sense, I prefer it to calf, even if calf is more elegant.

Appreciate the advice. I'll give it a shot.

Finally putting the NOS florsheims through their paces. Initially I liked the way the color lightened a bit from all of the time unworn. Then I wore them once after reconditioning in some drizzle and was discouraged by spotting presumably from using bick 4 on the surface. Now they’re taking a heavy beating in a 3 shoe fall gunboat rotation and I couldn’t be happier with how they’re wearing in and developing.

When I wear these, it at once reminds and explains to me, how I fell into this inescapable black hole of boot love.
