In on the GMTO for the Enzo Bonafe Horween Willow Grain #4
Ah, I was following it on the EB GMTO thread. Fantastic makeup. Judging by what I see here on SF and on Instagram, Lorenzo appears to have access to the best and most unique shells. I'm sure you'll be happy with both the color and overall product.

Hello, full disclaimer: I don’t own any cordovan shoes/boots..

But I am planning to buy one. I only have 2 concerns that I am hoping I can get some feedback on.

1. Summers for me is 100F plus. Do you wear ur Cordovan boots/shoes in such weather?

2. During the summers, which do u prefer: calfskin, cowhide, horse hide or Cordovan ? Which runs the coolest and which is the hottest on ur feet ?

I live on the US Gulf Coast. My boots hibernate from basically March through October, depending on how hot the shoulder seasons are.

I wear a rotation of cordovan shoes to the office, and have basically subbed out most of my original, calf leather rotation with cordovan over the years. Will fold in the occasional calf cap toe when formality is required at the office, but it’s what I’d generally call a loose dress code. Equal parts sport coats with trousers and polos with ratty jeans. I trend toward the former.

In all seasons but winter, my casual, non-sneaker rotation has a few, unlined suede loafers. These are supplanted generally by unlined suede chukkas in the USGC winter. I’ll also pull out the aforementioned cordovan boots on occasion, and rotate them in on Fridays at the office.

I am genuinely curious as to if I’ll keep that up when I’m back in the office full time again. I’m one of the lucky bastards that managed to work toward a career where I could work from home in a pinch. Enjoying the fruits of that labor... but we’ll see.

I live in Atlanta where the temperature is 90 plus in the summer. I wear mostly boots and prefer cordovan, and wear them year round. With the exception of a few "premium" calfskin boots, I use calfskin mostly in wet weather. The heat doesn't affect me since I wear my shoes mostly indoors. I don't own any horsehide, but find my one pair of suede boots to be most comfortable under all conditions.

I’m in Northern VA, and the temps are pretty high here in the summer. Today and yesterday it was 95, which is typically what we get from now until late September even. I wear boots 95% of the time, anytime of the year.

Honestly, I can’t say that I’ve noticed any difference between any of my boots. I obviously don’t wear my shearling lined boots during the summer, but all others feel pretty much the same.
