:O are you sure that ain't mold?
It's not mold, it's bloom. A few seconds with a brush and it's gone, mold would remain after brushing. This pair has bloomed like that since new, others who have the same boot have complained of same. Worse bloom I have ever had on a pair of boots, makes them "interesting"

Looks more like mold to me also, as opposed to bloom
Not mold, although the appearance is similar. Mold would require a damp environment and these are stored right next to other shell boots, on the same rack, have never been wet or even damp, its just heavy bloom and goes away with a quick brushing.

What's your go-to routine when you first get a brand new pair of shell footwear. Brush well, then condition, then color or neutral shell creme, or some derivation?

I have many shell pairs that are several years old that haven't seen a spot of creme.

I was gutted when I saw a listing for these on Ebay a while back and found out they weren't my size :( Absolutely gorgeous.
If the Joker didn't wear spats on black shoes, I'd say he'd wear these.

The plum colour is striking and bold. Very nice!
Thank you Gentlemen! @007Bond had a beautiful blue pair for sale as well, I finally decided on the Iris (purple), and I'm so happy I did!

I just hit them with a quick brushing to knock of any bloom, fingerprints or dust. Less is more, when it comes to products on shell cordovan.

I'm a dandy, so I brush them, condition them, cream them, then wax the toes and heels to get a mirror gloss.

I know some people think of shell as more rugged and therefore they don't like that look, but I want to see my reflection in my toes. If I don't, I feel like I've failed myself as a dandy.
