Speaking of killing it! These are both superb, but dang, the color on those Saddles is amazing!

The surcharge is 50%. Maybe there was some kind of typo in your quote.

Hello. I'm looking for my first pair of shell cordovan shoes. I know what I want:

    - Boots.
    - Burgundy colour.
    - Not too dressy. Preferrably brogues.

I pulled the trigger on these Meermins:

But I cancelled my order because a) apparently they're more brown IRL than burgundy (and I already have some C&J Islay) and b) they don't use Horween. Price and looks are great, though.

    I like these AE:

    Or these Alden:

The problem is that I live in Europe and customs are very strict and expensive in here (and I just checked and Alden for example charges $135 just for shipping internationally).

So Meermin don't use Horween. Carminas are too sleek. I want something I can wear with wool flannel and tweed trousers, and even jeans. But I don't want bulky, workwear boots either. Crockett & Jones don't have anything in burgundy.

Something like these Wolverines (pic from esqblackbook in this thread) would also work:

So I was wondering, which other options do I have?

If you are looking for a more rugged look, I'd consider the Grenson Triple Welt. They have different colors, my favorite is mahogany, not sure you can find burgundy though. I'm quite sure the triple welts are made in England with top quality materials, not in India like most other Grensons. The only problem is that you are stuck either with commando or leather, no dainite...

I like the Aldens but I'd take these Grensons over them anytime. To be honest I think the Allen Edmonds brogue boots look cheap and are shaped on a poorly chosen last.
