Picked up these vintage Florsheim shells on ebay. Almost fell on my butt due to the v cleat. Will need to change the heel but am enjoying my first pair of shells!

    Outstanding work on these! [IMG]

I think they could do with some more slender laces, IMHO

What is the shoe model number on the inside of your pair if I may ask? I have a pair I obtained from ebay as well, but the shell was really hammered and I'm trying to determine if it's aged shell or if I was taken for a ride.

Steinbeck Forest last, Love the way these resist the typical shell creasing and rolling. This is about the 5th or 6th time worn. They are a very good fit ( no extra wiggle room) and I have some tight fitting trees. Maybe that has something to do with it.

Thanks! I agree, dress boot laces would look better but these are my client's.

Dress boot laces are pretty hard to find unless you buy them in a roll and cut and tip yourself.

Your client's a lucky guy to have chosen your services!

Depending on the specific length required, I have had good experience with Allen Edmond's boot laces for my dressier boots. Could be worth checking out, if you were so inclined.

A little washed out from the indoor sunlight, but here's some of my shell

    From top, clockwise:
    1. Allen Edmonds Strand in brown shell
    2. Ralph Lauren Marlow wingtips by Crocket and Jones in brown/cigar shell
    3. Allen Edmonds Dalton in walnut shell
    4. Carmina 80184 Oscar jumper boots in saddle shell
    5. Allen Edmonds Westchester in burgundy shell

Have one other pair of shel not pictures, a burgundy austerity balmoral boot from Carmina and I have a pair of Alden x Leffot #8 antique edge LWB on the way!

10 weeks ago, I was walking around Montreal with my son (he will be attending McGill this fall). I had left my Swims home and had only one pair of boots with me-- the Carmina 973 Plain Cap boot that I picked up from Steve at GentlemensFootwear.com. I realized the Carmina Shell Boots were a real treat and did a great job in the snow and ice. I am not as fond of the Dainite as most folks here at SF. I think Dainite is way over-rated, but that's just my opinion. Anyway, I figured if I tried to get a GMTO together there would be a clamor for Dainite so I went it alone. I wanted the boots to be dark without being black and so Betty said Carmina could darken them for me. The color is precisely what I wanted. I really want to thank Betty Albaladego for her help. She is very nice.

I am a poor photographer so I hope these pictures make up for the others in the Carmina thread.

Next year I would like to order the identical boot in black calf. One of the things I have found is that boots give me a better fit than shoes. My left foot is narrower than my right and the boot gives me a real secure feeling in both feet. (Yes, probably some subtle autistic tendencies there.)

eBay.co.uk usually has such laces, easily found by searching for waxed shoelaces and choosing the longer ones from the seller's listing.
